Trending Question: Superfatting Melt + Pour Soap
Author: Wholesale Supplies Plus
Tuesday, April 26, 2016

Question: I superfatted my melt and pour soap base and now it has no lather. Why?
Answer: Superfatting soap is intended for cold process soap making. It will not work with melt and pour soap. This is because melt and pour soap is a water-soluble product. When you add oils or butters to the base, those oil-soluble ingredients compete with the MP soap base lather and actually pull down the bubbles to form more of a creamy lather. If you would like to have a more moisturizing soap base we encourage you to try the Crafter’s Choice™ Shea Butter or Triple Butter soap bases. These have extra moisturizing butters added to the formula in a way that does not impact the lather.
