This is a fabulous recipe that can easily be adapted for any holiday or occasion.

Project Level: Easy
Estimated Time: 1 Hour
Yield: (12) 5.5-6 oz Bars

Ingredients

  • 4 Pound(s) Premium Extra Clear MP Soap Base - 2 lb Tray
  • 2 Ounce(s) First Snow Fragrance Oil 404
  • 1 Ounce(s) Glycerin - Natural
  • 1 Tablespoon(s) Matte Cobalt Blue Ultramarine Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon(s) Blue Oil Locking Mica Shimmer
  • 1 Tablespoon(s) White Sparkle Mica Powder
  • 1 Piece(s) Tray 12 Rectangles Silicone Mold 1701

Equipment

  •  Measuring Spoons (4 Tablespoons = 2 oz)
  •  Microwave
  •  Mixing Spoons
  •  Pyrex Cup - 64 oz
  •  Rubbing Alcohol in Bottle with Sprayer

Recipe Directions

  1. NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron.
  2. Place mold in freezer for 20 min.
  3. Pour 1 oz. of glycerin into 2 small beakers or glass bowls. Add 1/2 tsp of Matte Blue Powder Pigment to one beaker. Add 1/2 tsp. of Blue Oil Locking Mica to other. Mix well with a mini-mixer or frother to be sure powder is completely dissolved.
  4. Melt 5 oz of soap and pour into 2 different beaker cups.
  5. Add a small amount of dark blue/glycerin color to one cup and blue oil locking mica powder to the second cup. Mix well.
  6. When each of the colored soaps have reached 130º F, remove mold from the freezer.
  7. Place mold on a cookie sheet for security. This will allow you to move it without flexing the mold.
  8. Using one color at a time, drizzle the soap in different patterns. For the soap in the image, I drizzled diagnonally from the top right corner to the bottom left corner.
  9. Repeat with each color. Try to drizzle additional colors where there is part of the mold exposed.
  10. When you are done creating the artistic surface, place the mold (keep on the cookie sheet) back in the freezer.
  11. Cut 10 ounces of extra clear soap into 1" pieces and place in the Pyrex cup. Melt in the microwave at 2 min. intervals. Stop when completely melted.
  12. To the cup of melted soap, add 1/2 oz of fragrance and winter white sparkle color.
  13. When soap reaches 125-128º F, remove the mold from the freezer.
  14. Spritz the soap in the mold with a fine mist of rubbing alcohol. Make sure all soap has been sprayed as this is what cause the two different types of soap to stick together.
  15. Slowly pour the melted soap into the mold. As you are pouring, move the pouring container onto different areas of the mold. This prevents the melting of your artistic designs.
  16. Allow the soap to return to room temperature. This may take 30- 60 minutes.
  17. Cut 55 ounces of extra clear soap into 1" pieces and place in the Pyrex cup. Melt in the microwave at 2 min. intervals. Stop when completely melted.
  18. In a small beaker, mix 1 oz. glycerin with 1/2 tsp. matte blue pigment. Mix well with mini mixer.
  19. To the cup of melted soap, add 1.5 oz. of fragrance and cobalt blue color mixture.
  20. When soap reaches 125-128º F, spritz the soap in the mold with a fine mist of rubbing alcohol. Make sure all soap has been sprayed as this is what causes the two different types of soap to stick together.
  21. Slowly pour the melted soap into the mold. As you are pouring, move the pouring container onto different areas of the mold.
  22. Allow the soap to return to room temperature. This may take up to 2 hours.
  23. Remove the soap from the mold and cut. Label according to FDA guidelines.
