Recipe Directions

  1. NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron and workspace.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, weigh the 8 oz. of Citric Acid, 16 oz. of Baking Soda, 2 oz. of Epsom Salts and 2 Tablespoons of Yogurt Powder. Use a wire whisk to combine the ingredients. Be sure to break up any clumps of powder that are in the mixture.
  3. In a small bowl, weigh the 1 oz. of Shea Butter and microwave until it has melted.
  4. In a plastic beaker, add 0.5 oz. (1 tablespoon) of Confetti Cake Fragrance Oil and 0.25 oz. (1/2 tablespoon) Vanilla Color Stabilizer-CP soap. Mix together and set aside.
  5. Place bowl with shea butter on the scale and tare to zero. Add 1.5 oz. of Apricot Kernel Oil and the fragrance oil mixture.
  6. Mix oils together well and drizzle over the dry ingredients being careful not to pour all into one place. Use the whisk to combine all the ingredients then use gloved hands to finish mixing so all ingredients are well incorporated.
  7. Place 1.5 tablespoons of Candy Sprinkles into a bowl and break up into smaller pieces. Add these to bath fizzy mixture and gently mix in.
  8. Once the mixture has been thoroughly blended, take some of the mixture and squeeze in the palm of your hand. If the mixture sticks together, it is ready to be molded.
  9. If the mixture is too dry and crumbly, spritz with rubbing alcohol until mixture sticks together.
  10. Once mixture is well blended, pack both sides of mold tightly with product. Add enough so the tops are mounded over.
  11. With one mold in each hand, push them together and twist back and forth a few times to remove excess product from around the edges. At this point, you can unmold the top side and brush away any remaining mixture around the lip of the mold.
  12. If mixture does not stick together, make sure mold edges are free of product and then press together again so sides will stick together. You may need to add more mixture to the middle of the mold, then place together again.
  13. These need to be pressed together very firmly. Add a little more fizzy mixture to help them stick together or you can also try spritzing the top of mixture with a little rubbing alcohol and then try pressing molds together again.
  14. Gently tap the top of the mold and carefully remove. You can remove entire bath bomb, brush off any excess from around the seam and replace in the bottom half of the mold.  We used our Guest Size Loaf Mold to prop up our bath bombs. This suspended the molds so they did not get a flat bottom. Any narrow box should work for this.
  15. Continue until all 14 bath bombs have been made.
  16. Let fizzies harden and dry for 24-48 hours. Unmolding sooner can cause these to crumble and fall apart. If fizzies crumble when unmolded, spritz with alcohol and pat down into mold cavity again.
  17. After about 48 hours, remove from molds and let dry on a paper towel for 2-3 more days until they are no longer moist to the touch.
  18. When ready to package, place 2 bath bombs in a cello bag and tie with curling ribbons. Curl with scissors.
  19. Label product accordingly.

Email Me When This Question Gets Answered

"I followed this recipe to the letter, and the bath bombs formed fine and came out better than any I had made before.... until I left them to dry! I came back 15 minutes later and they were cracking apart and still very wet, but they weren't "puffing" to indicate a reaction was happening. Just cracking like a damp sandcastle. Not sure what might have gone wrong here?"
