RECIPE: Frosted Cranberry Winter Wonderland CP Soap
It’s that time of the year again when cranberries make their debut on the season. Cranberries are very popular in bath and body, bakeries and home decor during the holidays. In this recipe we are using Frosted Cranberry Fragrance, it is like a sweet sugary plum with a slight tartness of cranberry. We will also be putting shea butter and blueberry seeds in to make it a perfect bar that will moisturize and exfoliate your dry winter skin.

INCI Ingredient Label: Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Distilled Water, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Fragrance, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Seed, Titanium Dioxide, Polyethylene Terephthalate, Acrylates Copolymer.
- NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron.
- This project and these instructions have been written for someone who has experience making soap and knows the potential dangers due to working with sodium hydroxide. It will not outline safety methods of working with dangerous chemicals, it is simply a soap recipe for advanced soapmakers.
- Put on your protective gear. This is very important since you will be working with an extremely caustic base that can and will burn you if you touch it. Noxious fumes are also released from the exothermic reaction that occurs when you mix the sodium hydroxide with water.
- Wear a face mask or leave the vicinity quickly after stirring the sodium hydroxide into the water. If you get any lye on your skin just wash it off quickly with copious amounts of cool water.
- Prepare the lye solution by weighing the water and lye in two separate containers. Pour the lye into the water, carefully mix in a well-ventilated area and set aside to cool while you prepare your oils.
- Next melt the coconut oil, shea butter and palm oil in double boiler or microwave until melted.
- Add sunflower oil, rice bran oil and stir.
- Once the lye and oils have cooled down to under 110° F, pour lye into the liquid oils/butters and hand stir for a minute.
- With stick blender, blend with small bursts and stirring until it is emulsified to a light trace.
- Next, pour about 8 oz. of soap batter into another container and add a teaspoon of white pigment powder, set aside.
- In the main soap batter bowl add blueberry seeds, fragrance and orchid ultramarine powder and stick blend until it is all incorporated and to full trace.
- Pour into silicone loaf mold and gently tap down.
- Now with clean stick blender, blend the 8 oz. of soap batter with the white pigment powder until it reaches full trace.
- Slowly pour over top of the cranberry soap and smooth out. Give a few taps on a counter with a good grip on the mold. Top with glitter!
- Let sit for 24- 48 hours in mold.
- Take soap out of mold and slice into bars. You can put loaf in freezer for 45 min. to help pop out the loaf from the mold. Let cure 4-6 weeks.
- Use shrink wrap and decorative ribbon, festive paper, or boxes to wrap your bars.
- Label soap accordingly.
