RECIPE: Salt Scrub Scoops - Melon

Little ice cream scoops of watermelon-scented salt scrubs. Use one in your bath or shower as a gentle exfoliant on heels, elbows, etc.

  • 16 Ounce(s) Foaming Bath Whip
  • 16 Ounce(s) Premium Ultra White MP Soap Base - 2 lb Tray
  • 32 Ounce(s) European Spa Salt - Medium Grain
  • 2 Ounce(s) Fresh Picked Watermelon* FO 642
  • 4 Drop(s) Stained Glass Strawberry Red Liquid Color
  • 4 Drop(s) Stained Glass Forest Green Liquid Color
  • 6 Piece(s) 16 oz Clear Basic Plastic Jar -89/400
  • 6 Piece(s) 89/400 White Straight Top Cap - F217 Liner
  • 1 Piece(s) Scoop - Squeeze Handle (Small)


  •  Cookie Sheets
  •  Glass pyrex mixing bowls (2)
  •  Large mixing spoons
  •  Microwave
  •  Plastic gloves
  •  Scale

  •  Tablespoon (2 Tablespoons = 1 ounce)
  •  Waxed Paper

Recipe Directions

  1. NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron.
  2. You will be making 2 separate batches of the salt scrub so that you can create the green and the pink colors
  3. Weigh 8 oz. of soap and cut up into chunks. Place in pyrex bowl and melt for 60 seconds.
  4. Weigh 8 oz. of Foaming Bath Whip and place into melted soap. Place in microwave for additional 20 seconds. Stir until completely melted and smooth.
  5. Weigh 16 oz. of European Salts, pour into soap mixture and blend with large mixing spoon.
  6. Add 3-4 drops of color and 1 oz. of fragrance. Mix well and set aside.
  7. In second mixing bowl, place remaining 8 oz. of MP soap and melt in microwave for 60 seconds.
  8. Repeat Steps 3-5 above.
  9. Stir both mixtures before starting to scoop. Make sure both are slightly thickened.
  10. Take ice cream scoop and scoop some of one color and then some of the other. Press mixture firmly into scoop and place on cookie sheet covered with waxed paper.
  11. Repeat until all of the mixture has been used up.
  12. If mixtures start to harden up, place in microwave for 15 seconds to soften.
  13. Allow to air dry for 24-48 hours. Package 8 scoops per jar or as desired.
  14. Variations: To make salt scrub cubes, pour green layer into a 13 x 9 cookie sheet lined with waxed paper. Let harden slightly then spread pink mixture over the green. Cut into squares when completely set up.
  15. Notes: If you want to make this recipe using plastic soap molds, it will be almost impossible to remove this product. It is very, very thick. We recommend silicone molds if available.
  16. Other alternatives would be a jelly roll pan, glass baking dish or plastic food storage containers lined with waxed paper. If you do this, we suggest not using these containers for food at a later date.

WSP Questions And Answers

"Learn from my mistake! I made these with a mix of coarse sea salt and fine Epsom salt.... nope, fail, don't do it! They were gummy for a couple days and I ended up tossing them because the huge salt in it was weird. The next batch I used regular sugar and I love it. I did add more, and I didn't weigh it but I'm guessing between an ounce and an ounce and a half. I brought them to work today to get opinions from all the ladies and they all love them! "
