Recipe Directions

NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron.
  1. Weigh Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, and Beeswax. Place ingredients into pot and place on stove top over low heat to slowly melt products.
  2. Weigh Arrowroot Powder and Baking Soda and place in glass bowl.
  3. In a plastic beaker, weigh 1.5 oz. fragrance and 0.40 oz. Vitamin E and set aside.
  4. Once oil, butter and beeswax have melted, remove from heat. Slowly mix in Arrowroot Powder and Baking Soda with a wire whisk or spatula. Mix until product is smooth, without any lumps.
  5. To this mixture add the fragrance and vitamin E from Step 3. Stir until well mixed.
  6. Once temperature of mixture has cooled to between 135°-140° pour into tubes. Place empty tube on scale and tare to zero. Fill to 3 oz. Repeat until all 12 tubes are filled. If you have any product leftover you can divide evenly among the tubes, just be sure to note the weight to add to your label.

"Hi - is the amount of baking soda correct? That's a little over 30% of the total. That much baking soda can be harmful to the skin's acid mantle, even if it's diluted in waxes and oils."
