Keeping The Holiday Cheer While Developing Your Seasonal Product Line

If you are one of those soapers that goes all out and develops a completely new product line for the holidays, then own it! There’s nothing wrong with stocking up on every pumpkin and peppermint fragrance oil you can nd, but there’s a right way to do it. It is the most wonderful (and pro table) time of the year so have fun with it. Here is a guide to follow when you’re adjusting your product line this season: 

1.) Choose a FEW favorite holiday fragrances. We know it’s easy to get carried away with all of the wonderful different FOs out there, but we think it’s best to give customers about 5-6 different options to choose from. You don’t want to overwhelm yourself with too many fragrances to find recipes for, and you don’t want to give your customers an overwhelming amount of options. So, try your best pick ONE pumpkin spice and a few other different fragrances that can be used in a variety of different products.

2.) Stick to simple recipes. Once you have found your favorite fragrances to add to your seasonal line, you need to decide which products to sell. Take a few of your favorite recipes that are easy to make and versatile. We recommend using ready-made bases to create easy recipes that involve few steps such as changing fragrance oil and color. For example, you can use Crafter’s Choice’s Basic Lotion Base, Lip Balm Base, Crystal Clear Shower Gel Base, Hair Conditioner Base and any of their Melt and Pour Bases. All of these bases can be used as is or can be changed by adding any Fragrance Oil and Mica Powder you choose! By pairing these 5 different bases with your 5 different fragrance oils you can have 25 new, easy to make products!

3.) Utilize Kits. It's difficult to know how much new product to buy when creating a seasonal line. You don’t want to buy too little, and you don’t want to buy too much. Buying Kits are a great way to avoid this problem. By using kits, you are buying just enough raw material to make an exact amount of product. Whiles it’s definitely not easy to know how many products of each you’re going to sell, it is much easier to purchase an organized kit full of everything you need than it is to search your seller’s website to purchase every individual ingredient. AND kits save you from creating completely new recipes! They’re a no brainer for the holiday season. 

4.) Add some YOU to this line. Now that you have about 25 different seasonal products, it’s time to add some of your holiday favorites to this special product line. We have found that our best-selling products around the holiday season tend to be the ones that look and smell like yummy treats! These types of products often connect the customer to a holiday tradition and special memories during this time of year – so they buy them! Think about what makes this time of year so wonderful (and delicious) for you. Is it the cranberry sauce served at Thanksgiving dinner? The warm hot cocoa you drink after an evening ice skating? Whatever it is, there’s bound to be a fragrance oil and recipe to make it come to life! 

Bonus tip: Make Gift Baskets! If you have followed our tips and tricks you should have a plethora of individual products that can be grouped nicely together to make themed gift baskets! Cranberry soap, scrub and lip balm makes for the perfect Thanksgiving gift basket anyone would be thankful to receive! How about a hot cocoa basket with 4-5 hot cocoa scented cosmetics! You may be surprised how profitable you can be by selling baskets of products rather than individual. People are willing to pay more for a put together gift that they can re-gift as is– and who wouldn’t want to receive a basket full of YOUR handmade goodies?
