Clay and Basil MP Shave Soap Recipe
Author: Wholesale Supplies Plus
Thursday, February 23, 2017

These soaps lather and hold that lather nicely while shaving. The added kaolin clay adds "slip" and also helps to purify the skin while the basil powder helps soothe red and irritated skin.

Recipe Directions

NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron.
  1. Weigh and cut up 24 oz. of Premium Shave and Shampoo MP Soap Base. Place in large glass pyrex cup and heat in microwave for 2 minutes. Remove and stir to melt any solid soap pieces. If necessary, heat in 30 second increments until soap has completely melted.
  2. Pour about 2 oz. of melted soap into a small bowl. Add 0.10 oz. or 1 teaspoon of Kaolin Clay into bowl. Using Mini-Mixer, mix the powder well into the melted soap. Pour back into larger bowl of soap and stir to incorporate.
  3. Add 0.05 oz. or 1 teaspoon of Basil Powder into soap and stir.
  4. Add 0.40 oz. glycerin and 7 ml of fragrance oil and mix well.
  5. Checking that the soap temperature is at or below 135° F, carefully pour soap into the 4 cavities of each mold. Spritz the top with rubbing alcohol to release any surface bubbles and set aside to harden.
  6. Once soap has completely set up, turn molds over and gently press on each cavity to remove the soaps.
  7. Wrap or package soap as desired and label product accordingly.
