Staff Answer Castor oil can be used in eye products but, if it accidentally gets into the eyes, it can cause irritation. If using in your product, this should probably be added to your product label.

Most CP soapers use 5%. Castor oil will make your soap too soft if too much is used. I've used 10% with favorable results. HTH :)

I use no more than 6%. Too much Castor oil can cause the reverse effect of not enough bubbles. Soap that is big "bubble-heavy" can be drying to the skin. WSP has the best, freshest Castor oil.

Castor oil at 10% makes a wonderful, creamy lather. It can even be used at 12%. Experimentation is good because the use of castor oil in higher amounts is controversial. Use a little more water in CP soap and balance with more hard oils to prevent stickiness in soap.

Experiment with it- I use it in the recipe sometimes and other times put it in at trace, as an additional oil. Experiment with amounts, I add minimum of 1oz at trace, sometimes up to 3!

Castor is a thick, sticky oil. Alone shea and castor may not have a pleasant texture.

Cold pressed is the extraction method used to get the oil. The oil is obtained by pressing and grinding in a controlled environment to maintain the friction level under a certain temperature. This is to ensure cold pressed oils retain their natural properties to the fullest.

Cold pressed or Cold extraction means that the oil was not heated over a certain temperature (usually 80 °F (27 °C)) during processing, thus retaining more nutrients and undergoing less degradation.

Hello, WSP's castor oil would be considered to be hexane free as their oil is "cold pressed". Oils that are not cold pressed typically go through a chemical process which would include hexane.
