Recipe Directions

  1. NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron.
  2. EMBED PAPER CAN ONLY BE USED WITH LASER PRINTERS. When using embed paper in soap, the paper remains intact until soap is used to point of embed. At that time, paper dissolves in water.
  3. Using a laser printer, print one sheet in your color of choice.
  4. Cut paper into 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" squares. One sheet will make 12 squares so you can save the leftovers or make more snowflakes if you have extra soap.
  5. Cut the paper into the 12 squares. From each square, cut out your unique snowflake.
  6. Weigh 1 oz. of crystal clear soap and place in glass measuring cup. Place in microwave and heat until melted.
  7. Pour a VERY thin layer of soap into each cavity. Immediately, place a snowflake into each cavity color side down. If paper starts to rise, push it down with your finger until the entire snowflake is immersed in soap.
  8. Let soap harden.
  9. Cut up 30 oz. of white soap and place in glass measuring cup. Heat in microwave until melted.
  10. Add just under 1 oz. of fragrance oil. Mix in well.
  11. Before pouring white soap over snowflake, soap temperature must be around 125 degrees. If soap is too hot, it will melt the first layer of soap.
  12. Spritz each soap cavity generously with alcohol.
  13. Taking a spoon or spatula in one hand, pour soap over the utensil into each cavity. Pouring the soap indirectly in this manner helps prevent breakthrough into the clear layer.
  14. Once all 6 cavities have been filled, spritz tops of each with alcohol. Let soap harden completely.
  15. When soap is unmolded, wrap immediately and label according to FDA regulations if planning to sell your product.
  16. For other suggestions, use cookie cutters to trace on embed paper for different occasions.
