"Why can't I find candles as a drop down in the fragrance calculator. Also, I don't see a category 12 on the IFRA. How do I know how much fragrance to use in candles then?"

Staff Answer We do not offer that information on our calculator for candle making at this time. You will have to request IFRA levels through customer service.

"If you are not using a pre made base but one of your own using mostly butters and oils. Would you then go off of the max for the container and recommendations of IFRA?"

Staff Answer It depends on what type of product you are making, but we recommend 3-6% fragrance max, as long as IFRA levels are safe at this amount.

"I know this is an old question, but, I believe what the customer was referring to is the fact that the bottle in the video was an 8 oz bottle. They wanted to know should they double the 4% to 8% if they use a 16 oz bottle instead of an 8 oz bottle? 4%=8 oz bottle, so does 8%=16 oz bottle?"

Staff Answer The amount of lotion you make does not make a difference. The base, or lotion, has a maximum fragrance load of 4%. This does not matter if it is a 4 oz. bottle or a gallon of lotion. The amount is still 4%. Here is a link to our Percentage Conversion Chart which might be helpful. "OK, I hope this is not a stupid question, new to this. The video told me that 4% fragrance was safe for the lotion and bottle, so if I have a 16 oz base, I'm looking at an 8% safe zone? I hope you understand what I'm asking, thanks."

Staff Answer We do not quite understand your question. We recommend up to 4% fragrance oil. Adding 4% to 16 oz. of base would be approx. 0.50 oz. You can certainly use less than this, especially if you are using a very strong fragrance.
