"I like this AV base for a body yogurt. When using the immersion blender it creates a yogurt-like feel. I have a few questions: what max percent do you recommend for carrier oils? Staff Answer We have not tried using a rotary pump with the base, but it does come in an open head drum. We have talked to customers that remove the top of the drum and will scoop out the product that way.

Staff Answer You will need to make a small test batch to see whether this will incorporate into castile soap. When making a body butter, melt down the oils first, let cool to about 150° F, then add in your aloe vera gel.

Staff Answer This is something you would need to test. Our Aloe Vera Gel is water based so there is a good chance the sugar may dissolve. Try adding a large-grain sugar (avoid anything raw) at 50% and work your way up from there.

Staff Answer We are not able to give the percentages for this product as they are proprietary. We do list the percentage that can be used in different products. If putting this into a body butter at 50%, it definitely would need something to bind them together since this is a water-based product. Since this does contain a preservative, you would only need to preserve the additional water that would be mixed with this.

The percentage of aloe juice is VERY important! Why would that be something you can’t share “propriatary” if it wasn’t an extremely low amount that would make this product unable to compete with all the others who do share the percentage!

"Wondering if Sugar can be added to this gel for a body scrub? If so, can you provide a basic ratio, for let's say 8oz jar of the aloe gel, how much sugar would you suggest? Also, for same 8oz jar, approx how much fragrance? I've been searching for a good aloe gel for scrubs, each one found so found turns into water-like consistency once sugar or salt, or really anything, gets added!! I hope yours works!"

Staff Answer The sugar may dissolve some in the Aloe Vera Gel so you would need to test this. We also cannot state how much fragrance to add. Each fragrance has a different IFRA usage rate so it would depend on your fragrance oil. Most fragrances are used at 1-2% in a body scrub, even less if used in a facial product.

Staff Answer Hi Tanya - This aloe vera gel is preserved with iodopropynyl butylcarbamate and diazolidinyl urea. If adding to a lotion base in a quantity less than the maximum the base can accept it does not need an extra preservative. If adding to a made from scratch lotion, you will still need to add a preservative that will preserve the rest of the lotion.

Believe it or not I buy funnels that come in a set of three sizes. I can use the smallest one for even the 1/2 ounce Malibu tubes(very small opening) from WSP and I wait til my products are completely cooled. Just put some in the funnel(hold in one hand) and stick the end in the bottle(hold it with the other hand) and gently tap on the counter. Works well for me, even for thick lotion.

Aloe vera oil is an oil soluble product and may cloud the suspension soap base. It is also a heavier additive and will provide a heavier moisturizing benefit than the gel. Adding some Vitamin E oil to the aloe gel will also help add healing and smoothing element to aloe gel. Most other skin helping vitamins will also add a little something extra to boost your products.

Staff Answer Most likely not, but it will depend on your recipe and what you are making. Liquid Aloe may refer to either Aloe Vera Oil or Aloe Leaf Juice. The Aloe Leaf Juice is only one component of the Aloe Vera Gel. Liquid Aloe would likely refer to a base ingredient, but Aloe Vera Gel is a completed product.

Staff Answer In small amounts aloe vera gel can be used in a lip gloss. We have not tested this product in this capacity so this would require testing on your part to ensure the safety of your finished product.

"I've purchased the Aloe Vera Gel and it is wonderful! I'm wondering if I can mix it with the clays or should I keep it seperate? IF mixed together, will the interference of bacteria occur? "

Staff Answer The Aloe Vera Gel contains a preservative, so this should not be an issue. We always recommend creating a test batch first to ensure you achieve the outcome you are looking for.

You'll have a bigger problem with it becoming gummy than worrying about bacteria. If you are worried about bacteria, you can add a preservative.

In my opinion, the consistency we love about this product would be completely lost if clays were added. (also the beautiful clarity that holds shimmer so nicely.)

"Can fragrance oils be added to the Aloe Vera Gel if I use Polysorbate 20 to help the oil bind with it? Would it thin it down too much to use just otherwise more or less straight(ish)? I want to make a glitter gel. "

Hello, You can add fragrance oil at 1-2% for this base. Adding fragrance oil can cause your aloe vera gel to become cloudy. The polysorbate 20 could be used a few drops at a time to help with the cloudyness. Thank you

"I've enjoyed using your aloe vera. However, when I researched the ingredients used to stabilize your aloe vera like Triethanolamine and Diazolidinyl Urea (formaldehyde), I'm questioning its toxicity level especially for those prone to cancer. Could you reformulate it? Thank you for your time."

Staff Answer This is not formaldehyde but instead a releasing agent. The only alternative preservative that would work in this base is a paraben. If we get enough requests, we would be happy to look at having it reformulated. We are not aware of an alternative ingredient for the TEA. Both the preservative and TEA and approved by the FDA for use in cosmetics.
