"I see the content percentage of this fragrance oil for body lotion is about 56%. Would that be the same for a hair cream? "

Staff Answer The IFRA for Hair Styling Aids Non-Spray of all types including mousse, gels, and leave-in conditioners for Baby Bee Buttermilk FO is 4.2%. If the hair cream you are making is a styling cream than 4.2% is the maximum. If by hair cream you are talking about a rinse-off conditioner than the IFRA is 10.5%. Thanks for asking!

"Is the IFRA guideline percentages correct for this item? 56% for lotion & 18% for baby seems awfully high. You used to provide a .PDF of the IFRA guidelines for each fragrance. I can no longer find that document. Where can I find them? "

Staff Answer We have removed the full IFRA in PDF format from our site and instead have provided the usage rate for the most commonly used products. The IFRA provided for this fragrance is correct. Often times the maximum percent allowed in a particular product is much higher than you need to use. In these instances you would follow the max fragrance for the product you are making (ie 3% for soap, 4% for lotions etc.)

Absolutely! Fragrance oils can definitely be blended to your liking. I have quite a few scents that are my own unique mixes and customers love them! The possibilities are nearly endless.

I have not found a singular fragrance oil that my husband likes so I blend his body spray fragrance myself. And then of course it's something that I like to smell on him also! It's very fun to experiment and find something new.

I usually blend mine unless it is a great scent on it's own. My best sellers over the years have been ones that I have blended using more than two different blends. This makes it more of a one-of-a-kind.

I absolutely love using fragrance and essential oils to come up with my own one of a kind fragrances. It's nice, too, to know that your customer can't find your fragrance anywhere else! enjoy creating! {make sure you keep good notes of the formulas you like!}

Sure you can... just make sure that your finished product follows the standards for the products you are making based on fragrance load. Blending unlike oils may also effect the load you can use on finished products as well. For example, fragrance oil A may have a safe load of 3% but fragrance B might have a safe load of 2%, when you combine them together, the percentage of your new oil will be 2.5%.

YES! Mixing scents is one of the best parts about making your own product. You get to create something unique that people may not be able to find elsewhere. Try to keep mixing simple and fragrances that compliment each other notes. Such as a chocolate/peppermint could be nice for a fall scent.

Yes! The best way to test a new blend without wasting too much product, is to dip a small paper test strip (you can make your own) into each fragrance then sealing them into a ziplock bag. I like to stick the strips on top of each other after dipping and leave them in the bag for a couple days before sniff checking, so the fragrances really blend. If you want more of certain scent to come out, you can do several test strips of that fragrance.

You can! That is probably my favorite part. Try mixing different FOs on cotton balls, put them in a plastic baggy and smell them later. That way you can kinda get an idea of the blend pre-soaping.

Yes, you can blend you own fragrance oils for your own unique scent. You can also blend fragrance oils with essential oils, and essential oils with other essential oils.
