Product Details

Calendula Extract is a water soluble product that is used to increase moisturizing properties in cosmetics. It is commonly used on diaper rash and dry skin, making it a great addition for your baby products and skin care cosmetics! Use this in diaper cream, facial cream, bubble bath and more!

Ingredients from Natural Food Sources (NFS) and are exempt from reporting in accordance with Title 27, § 25501(a).

International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI):
Water (and) Glycerin (and) Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Sodium Benzonate, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid.

Common Name Ingredient Listing (FDA Approved):
Water, Glycerin, Calendula Extract.

Note: When this blend is used as an ingredient in another product you can omit the ingredients sodium benzonate, potassium sorbate and citric acid from the label because they are considered "incidental".

Directions:

DIRECTIONS: Slowly stir desired amount of liquid into formula and mix well. Common use levels for 1 pound of base are: 1 teaspoon to 1 Tablespoon.

TIPS: This product provides rich attributions to formulations such as lotions, shower gels, shampoos and face masks. Test your final product to insure optimal performance.

STORAGE: Store in an airtight, cool, dark location. When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase.

CAUTION: For external use only. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Staff Answer We typically recommend that if more than 5% additives are incorporated into the base, the current preservative system will be diluted and additional preservative will be required. SO in this case, you should add one. However, the extracts contain preservative as well, so you may be okay to not add any. We would still recommend to add one to be safe.

Staff Answer If you are adding Poly 80, this should mix into your oil based product but you would need to test to be sure it will blend properly.

Staff Answer The Calendula Extract contains Sodium Benzonate, Potassium Sorbate and Citric Acid which are preservatives. If your product will have contact with water, then you would need to add a preservative. Without knowing the product, we cannot definitely say if you would need to add one but you can't go wrong with adding one to be on the safe side.

Hello, I have never personally tried this so I would make a tester cold process batch first. Since it is water soluble I do not see why you could not add it to the distilled water and then go through the process as normal. Thank You For Your Question

Staff Answer They are most popular in liquid washes and hair products but absolutely can be used in cp soap. I would add to the water phase.

In my opinion, It might do o.k., I'm not sure it would survive the saponification process. Most extracts are heat sensitive. In lotions and body butters, it's typically added during the cool down phase to retain properties.

COMMENTS: Ordered the Calendula extract to make a facial bar for my teenage son who has severe acne. I made a small loaf of facial soap for him. I added essential oils and calendula extract. It came out amazing so I just may start making these facial soaps to add to my line.

COMMENTS: I use this in an after-sun lotion and it's just wonderful. Helps take the redness away more quickly and I like that it's water soluble because it's so easy to add to the water phase. I also have been using this lotion to help extend the life of a spray tan. Next I want to try this in a luxurious bath bomb.

COMMENTS: This Calendula added to my lotion formula has helped so many people with healing properties. One man had a serious burn on his arm and when this was applied the burning sensation ended. I have also used it on sunburn...the lotion with the Calendula added...and it took the burning sensation out of my arms.
