Product Details

Pure Cocoa Butter which is thought to reduce skin dryness and work wonders for the skin. Our Natural Cocoa Butter is unrefined which yields a natural tan color and cocoa (chocolate-like) odor. Use in a variety of homemade recipes including shampoo bars, bath fizzies, soap, lip balm, lotion and more!

Directions:

DIRECTIONS: Slowly stir melted product into the oil portion of your formulation. Common use levels are lip products 5-100%, cold process soap 3-6%, lotions and creams 3-5%. Can be applied directly to the skin.

TIPS: The average melting point for the butter is 100°F. Butters provide moisturizing properties to products. To minimize greasy after feel we recommend blending with 1-3% cornstarch or isopropyl myristate. Test your final product to insure optimal performance.

STORAGE: Store in an airtight, cool, dark location. When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase.

CAUTION: For external use only. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

It's a little yellower than refined cocoa butter, yes. I've accounted for it by mixing a little titanium dioxide (any white pigment would probably work) into my oils before blending to whiten the base, or you can just plan for it by adjusting the colors the way you would for a yellower olive or other oil.

All of your oils combined will determine your final oil color, along with what percentage. This has a lighter yellow color.

Yes, minimally. At a high percentage, it will make the soap a creamy color. For a lighter soap, don't gel.

It depends on how much you use and your overall formula yellowness. At 5-10% it won't make much of a color difference. If you are using a high amount of yellow oils such as very yellow or green-yellow olive oil in addition to the cocoa butter, it may slightly change your overall soap color.

I'm new to making body butter and I thought cocoa butter would be a perfect addition to my recipe. The scent is even more rich and chocolate-y than I was expecting... in fact, it was so rich I had to use less of it because the chocolate smell was a bit overpowering hahaha. If you use just the right amount, it will leave your body butter with a subtle dark chocolate scent and a creamy, melt-into-the-skin consistency. I'll definitely be ordering again.

COMMENTS: I tried this coco butter on a brand new recipe - so grain of salt - it smells like fresh milk chocolate, which is amazing. With such a hard butter, I thought my soap would harden really quickly. Life happened, so I didn't get to unmold for two days. I was really concerned about breaking the wire on my cutter. But it was still so soft on the bottom that I had to reform it a little on the corners. Probably should have left it another day or two, but impatience won out. The soap looks like it will be good once it hardens more. Can't wait to try it out :)

	"STRONG COCOA BUTTER SCENT IN MY LOTION"
COMMENTS: I purchased this as part of the sample pack. I used this in some handmade lotion that I made for the first time. It was a thick lotion that I made. So I used this in the recipe along with Shea Butter. This butter had a very strong scent to it when it was melted along with the Shea Butter and Emulsifying Wax. I let the lotion cool so I could add my preservative and fragrance. Whilst cooling, all I could smell was this cocoa butter. Once I added my fragrance and let the lotion for a day or two, the smell had gone and I could smell the Lavender Essential Oil I used for fragrance.

COMMENTS: I am new to the soap making world. Initially, my soaps were semi-soft. They remained in the silicone mold from a few days to a week to get firm enough to remove. After adding cocoa butter and decreasing the amount of castor oil, my cold process soap releases from the silicone mold quite easily in 24 to 36 hours. Hurray! Once I made a soap containing 20 percent cocoa butter. The soap was very hard and smelled of chocolate. I usually add cocoa butter at five to ten percent of the fats.

COMMENTS: I have been using cocoa butter for many years and found a easy way to cut it. Use a wavy soap cutter on a paper grocery bag or cutting board. The wavy cutter is much easier and safer than any knife. Do small portions at a time, whittle away starting at the edges. Of course not really necessary if it is a 1 pound amount, but works great in a 3 or 5 pounds size

"Doesn't have the scent"

COMMENTS: I am so disappointed in the lack of scent of this cocoa butter. It seems an okay texture, but it's a paler color than I've gotten from other suppliers and is lacking that decadent warm chocolatey smell I've come to expect.

COMMENTS: Love using natural cocoa butter, the scent of chocolate is a winner for me. The butter melts good in the pot and even with the heat from my hands. Cocoa butter always feels great on my skin when I clean off my utensils and rub it into my arms and hands. Using this product will continue in my products.

"Love the smell!"

COMMENTS: I primarily use cocoa butter in my cp shampoo bar formulations, I don't use any other fragrance since this oil makes it smell wonderful all on it's own. I have made shampoo bars without cocoa butter and they never turn out quite as well.

COMMENTS: I love using cocoa butter for everything. Moisturizing and not greasy like some butters. Takes a bit longer to melt since it's kind of hard but it being a harder butter makes it great for solid lotion bars since it hardens up just enough. Smells delicious too.
