Product Details

Our Three Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base is a detergent free soap base that is opaque and white in color. Luxuriate skin with the moisturizing properties of Shea butter, cocoa butter, and mango butter. The two-pound tray is the perfect size container for projects making (8) 4 oz. bars of soap. The lid allows for unused soap to easily be stored for future use.

Directions:

MELT: Determine amount of melt and pour soap base needed for your project. Carefully slice soap base into small pieces and place in microwave safe container. Heat on low at 30 second intervals. Stir between intervals until liquid. Handle hot soap carefully as it may burn the skin. Soap can also be melted in a double boiler.

MOLD: Stir in cosmetic color, cosmetic scent, and skin safe additives. Pour into a Crafter's Choice mold. Spritz soap surface with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles. Allow to cool until hard.

ENJOY: Remove from mold and wrap with airtight plastic wrap. Your newly created melt and pour soap is now ready to use!

CAUTION: Melted soap is hot! For ages 15 and older.

"I didn’t find that my soap bars hardened after 24 hours , the soap bars were tacky to touch. Also, I used 2 drops of colorant to 8 ounces of MP and I noticed it left a the color on my washcloth when wetting the bar. Am I doing something wrong? The base lathers great and is very moisturizing! "

Staff Answer The lather in the detergent free versus regular bases is good but different. The detergent free bubbles tend to be smaller and creamier. The standard bases have lots of bigger bubbles.

When I first ordered the Detergent Free I was afraid there wouldn't be enough lather, but it is quite nice, very thick, creamy bubbles. My customers love it!

I like the detergent free M&P soap better, it is gentler on sensitive skin. As for lather, I get plenty with the recipes I use, it is a very soft & creamy lather like the staff answer said.

"Creamy lather"

COMMENTS: After trying their other soaps, I believe I found a Winner! I kept this Triple Butter on the back burner for about 4 months. Firstly, the lather is fantastic both creamy and bubbly. Secondly there's no soap residue like commercial soaps. Thirdly and most importantly, after using this on my face there's no immediate need to moisturize. Off topic, as a newer soap crafter finding "reviews" here that are more recent than a year is few & far between. This goes for many other wsp products. What gives?

	"soft, melts easily, & hardens slowly"
COMMENTS: This soap base feels very soft and it melts easily. Taking very long time to harden is both a good and bad thing depending what project you are on. Since it melts so easily, some of my packaged soaps melted into liquid form in the sun at outdoor fairs (weather 70°F). This is something I really don't want happen. I'm now worried about my soaps been melted during shipping in summer... I have been using a different brand natural low sweat mp soap base for years and that brand's soap base takes longer time to melt but hardens really fast. It never melted in hot weather or in the bright sun. I'm now keeping both brands so that I have more choices for each project. One more thing is this base sweats more than the other brand, but it's acceptable. I like this base, but probably just going to order small amount instead of bulk in the future.

"Best Base So Far"

COMMENTS: I'm just starting out my soap journey and my search for the perfect base is over - I love that it's detergent free and it's so easy to work with and gives excellent and consistently luxurious results every time. This and the Argan oil base are so my favorites. I like how it the base is so smooth when melting and it gives you some latitude for adding color and herbs without worrying if that base is going to solidify. Very satisfied and so our my customers!

	"Drying"
COMMENTS: If I'm gonna be completely honest, I didn't like this base at all.. I bought it assuming because it's detergent free that it would be less drying but it seemed to be the opposite? Which i find pretty odd.. I used this and the detergent free clear mp base for a project and the soap came out to be really drying after use that I have to moisturize every time I use it. It also hardly lathered unless it was under warm or hot water, and even then it took a while for it to come to a lather. Its unusual because I have also bought and used the regular oatmeal mp base which I found to be way less drying and had a nice creamy lather(which is what I was expecting I would get with the detergent free bases). I'll probably not buy any more of the detergent free bases as they just seem to be more drying than regular bases :-//

COMMENTS: I am really please with this product! I first purchased it back in 2018 however had not used it. I had several customers who wanted a soap that was not to drying on there skin during the winter months! I made the whole 2 lb tray & sold all the bars! Since that time I have heard from several new & old customers about have this soap throughout the winter months so I just recently purchased a 10 lb tray! "Nice base but takes longer to set than other bases"

COMMENTS: I did like this base, however, I feel that it took longer to set up than other bases I have used. (Shea butter and Buttermilk detergent free). I think because it has a lot of skin loving butters, that's what makes it more "soft" so to speak. I now only purchase DF soap bases exclusively from WSP because they have excellent high quality bases, products and shipping is free after spending only $25!

"Wait extra time between layers"

COMMENTS: First off, very soft and creamy soap, moisturizing and doesn't have any off putting scent. I was atrempting to layer this soap must not have waited long enough because my layers broke. Sad but not the soaps fault! I'm guessing it has a low melting point and needs extra time to cool between layers.

"Three Butter Soap"

"Purchased triple butter for moisturizing benefits:"

COMMENTS: I am looking for a M&P soap to teach a local class soap making. I once made a mistake of teaching a lotion class with a pre-made gallon of lotion and unfortunately, the lotion dried out our hands after daily uses! Before I teach a soap making class I had a few different people try the soap and wanted to get results to decide the best soap to use. One of the testers trying this soap works in healthcare and is always washing her hands and so she used the soap every time she washed her hands and she reported back after a few days how the soap made her hands very dry. I was sad to hear. I was hoping the butters in the soap and with the soap being detergent free that it would make a wonderful moisturizing soap that would help soften skin. This soap is very creamy and feels so moisturizing. I have been trying the soap in my shower and I did notice it did not moisturize my skin as I thought it would. I wonder if I can add something else to the soap. I think I will try a glycerin based soap since I live in a very dry desert climate and see if that works for the soap class. I am thinking it's the climate I live in and not the soap as to why it's drying. But I ordered a few different types of soap so I will see how they work out.

I like to test with the 2lb blocks but i will definitely be getting larger blocks of this now. I've found that detergent free soaps leave the skin feeling much softer, with no film. COMMENTS: I use triple butter to make certain soaps. Over all I like this base, but the reason I didn't rate it as excellent is because the base is in a bag, I guess it is poured into the bag, and some of the base gets caught in it when it solidifies. Making it very hard to remove.

"Skin Loves It!"

COMMENTS: This was the first melt and pour base I've ever used and it delivered everything I wanted and more. I don't usually make soap but I thought it would be a nice change of pace for Christmas. A friend of mine tried two of the soaps I made from this base and she said it was the most gentle soap she's ever used on her eczema. She won't use anything else when she has a flare up. Needless to say, I'm going to buy a lot more of this and make a ton of soap from this base if it's that nourishing and soothing!

"A wonderfully moisturizing soap"

COMMENTS: I use this MP soap mixed in with 2 other MP soaps to make a very moisturizing exfoliating soap with a luffa slice worked right into it. I have given out 4 sample bars, and have gotten orders for 17 more bars, just from that! The MP soap bases are super easy to use, and the moisturizing properties of the 3butter one, allows my customers who have dry skin to actually comment on their smooth and moisturized skin for days!

"3 Butter M&P"

COMMENTS: I am a cold process soap maker; however, a melt and pour sale, like every other sale at WSP, was too hard to resist. I had no idea the three butter base existed, and wanted to explore. I added beneficial clays to already rich base and I am perfectly comfortable recommending as a complexion bar. I did have one small problem and that is due to my inexperience with melt and pour. There were some pockets of crumblies. Perhaps, I overheated the base? Perhaps it was the mango butter? Those are my best guesses; however, any feedback would be helpful to prevent the crumbling, in an otherwise creamy gentle cleansing bar. I used a double boiler and dispersed the clay in glycerine before adding. No added fragrance. It has a lovely, mildly nutty fragrance on its own. Easily a very versatile gentle complexion and body bar with creamy lather. I will be buying more and using my thermometer:)

"Love This Soap Base"

COMMENTS: I really liked this product! This is my first time making soap and I started with this melt and pour base. I had combined it with a goats milk soap base and I have no problems with it. It is wonderful on my skin for a body soap and doesn't dry my hands out with extended uses when I wash with it. It lathers nicely with a loofah but takes a while to get the lather going when just regular hand washing (might be caused by the fragrance oil I used with it), but running it under warm water for about 10 seconds gets the lather going quite nicely. Also, it may just be because of my inexperience as an amature soap maker but I had put in some Pink Himalayan Salt and a lot of it fell to the bottom of the soap in the molds and didn't really keep the salt suspended. Maybe the salt diameter was too large to keep them suspended in the soap base but will definitely try coffee grinds or something lighter next time. I will definitely be buying again. Recommended! :)

Welcome to the soap making family! A couple of tips based off of your comment. Firstly, there are benefits to a detergent free soap base but if you are looking for 'big bubbles' the detergent is what causes those bubbles. You can try out any of our Signature bases for a good lather. Secondly, there are two options to suspend additives in your soap base. Your first option would be using a Suspend Soap Base. You can also allow your soap base to cool prior to adding in an additive to allow for better suspension. Happy soaping!

"Detergent Free Three Butter Soap"

COMMENTS: I have tried A LOT of different bases both from WSP and other companies. Primarily I like that this is detergent free. Secondly, but very important, it melts quite nicely and smoothly. My skin feels great after using this and I like being able to tell customers that it contains cocoa, mango and shea butters. It's also soft enough to cut fairly easily. I purchase the 2 lb. packages, because it's just too difficult for me to manage the giant block and it's not that much more $ when you figure it out per ounce. Plus you can keep the containers to store embeds.

COMMENTS: I love this base and that it's detergent free. Add the three butters and you have a great moisturizing soap. It's easy to work with and allows enough time to add swirls, embeds, etc. It does sweat a bit, so not completely equal to CP, but hey, it's melt and pour. I've combined this with clear for vivid colors or layers and never had a problem. The big block is hard to cut so I spend a few extra dollars to get the 2 lb. trays--easy!
