"Hi, are the epsom salts USP grade? Also, my second question is what kind of packaging does the 50 lb size come in? If it's a plastic bag, do you know the recycling code of the plastic, e.g., is it #2 plastic, #4 plastic etc. and do you know if the bag is recyclable, like at a store drop off?"

Staff Answer The Epsom Salt is USP grade. The 50lb bag comes in a plastic bag. The type of plastic can change depending on manufacturer. You would have to check with your local recycling.

Staff Answer Epsom salts have an unlimited shelf life. They may clump over time but do not go bad.

"I'd like add Coconut Oil to these so the bath salts will be silky and moisturizing- is that possible? And in what quantity of oil vs salt? "

Staff Answer We would recommend blending the epsom salts with a larger salt that can absorb some of the coconut oil. You also want to let the salts dry overnight so they are not wet when packaging. Also, be sure to add a warning to your label because the coconut oil will make the bath tub slippery.

Staff Answer We do not recommend using food coloring in cosmetic products. You might try using mica powder or oxides for coloring instead.

Try using a powdered dye approved for bath products, and mix with a little glycerin first to dissolve the powder. Then add to your bath salts and stir.

Because of many people having allergies to food color I would not recommend using it for skin applications. Yes, the clumping will result, but if you mix and mix it may break down the clumps as it dries. A better coloring would be mica, if you use the powdered type it will mix beautifully. WSP sends out many samples, just use a small bit of the mica next time.

"how fine are the grains of this salt? im looking for something that i can use for an all-over body scrub that wont irritate normal to dry skin. would this be a good choice?"

Staff Answer These are a medium grain salt. They may be a bit too coarse for an all-over body scrub. If you would prefer to use this salt I would recommend blending them in a food processor to reduce the grain size a bit.

While this would be a nice soak choice, I'd choose something more fine for a scrub, such as sugar or sea salt.
