"I cannot get this Essential Oil to enter into the fragrance calculator on your website. How can I calculate the usage rate? (I prefer to use the fragrance calculator but it will not work for this Essential Oil) "

"Does this grapefruit essential oil hold its scent in cold processed soap? I haven’t found a grapefruit e.o. that holds its scent yet. I love the scent. Any suggestions? Thanks ??"

"I made a body balm yesterday, and during cool down, added the pink grapefruit EO. It smelled divine. When I went to check on my balm the next morning, I could only smell the barest hint of the essential oil! I was so disappointed! Did I do something wrong, or is it just that this EO doesn’t have staying power? Such a waste! (I did use an EO calculator) Any advice would be greatly appreciated!"

Staff Answer We have not had complaints about this EO losing its scent and is known to be one of the stronger EOs. We are not sure what could've went wrong, sorry! Perhaps the ingredients used have their own strong odors?

Staff Answer Flashpoint is the temperature at which the oil can combust. That is why no Essential Oil with a low flashpoint can ship by air. If using these in cold process soap, essentials with a lower flashpoint can evaporate quicker due to the higher temperature.

Staff Answer This essential oil can be used in candles. You would need to check with your wax manufacturer to get the fragrance load for your particular wax.

Staff Answer Essential oils are derived from natural plant sources and can vary in color from crop to crop. Not all essential oils are clear, in fact, most essential oils are not clear. We have had batches recently of the Grapefruit (Pink) EO that have ranged from a pale yellow to a darker amber color and all ranges are within the industry standard of normal.

"When making pomades, I read that you must add essential oils during the cool down phase at 45°C or lower. In order to avoid problems when pouring the pomade mix, I must add the essential oils at around 55°C, ideally I would add the EO at around 60°C to be able to pour the mixture into tins. Does it make a huge difference to mix EO at 60°C?"

Staff Answer As long as your pomade temperature is not higher than the flashpoint for the specific EO you are using then you should not have any issues.

Grapefruit essential oil is not considered to be phototoxic. It does contain furocoumarins, which are responsible for phototoxic affects, but it also contains other natural components that seem to neutralize phototoxicity. Which makes this citrus oil a wonderful additive to leave-in products!

I use this EO in my body oils and I've personally never experienced any photosensitivity. I use it on my entire body, including face and arms and have not experienced any reactions whatsoever to the sun. Hope this helps!
