"The description says this us also known as French green clay. Most French green clays that I've come across the INCI name is Illite. How is this different, other than sea silt being the INCI name? Is it Illite or Kaolin? "

"I have a fair question here to help unconfuse me & others as well. Is Sea Clay the same as Powdered Dead Sea Mud or Sea Silt Powder which is another name used for Dead Sea Mud Powder? If not, than what is the difference?"

Staff Answer Hi Corwin our Sea Clay is Sea Silt. This clay originates in the United States so it is not Dead Sea Clay. The Dead Sea is located between Israel and Jordan so only clay from here can be considered Dead Sea Clay.

"What is the best way to incorporate sea clay into soap. I mixed it with glycerin once but that caused sweating. I mixed it in water once and that caused clumps that I couldn't stick blend out. Any suggestions please?"

Staff Answer Glycerin is our recommended blending suggestion. However, you can also try blending the clay with a small amount of melted MP soap then adding that mix into your full batch. You may need to heat the MP Soap a bit hotter than normal and work fact to incorporate all of the clay before the soap begins to harden.

"I currently use a Dead Sea Mud (not a powder/clay) in my CP soap, along with activated charcoal. could I substitute this for the DSM? If so, would it be best to do so as is in powder form or mix with water to form a thick wet product like I am using now? "

The Sea Clay makes a great additive for CP soap. It works best to hydrate it some by adding a little water to it prior to using it.

"If I used the sea clay in a dry mask product, would I have my customers use water to make a paste out of it or could they use an oil? Would the use of oil still allow the mask to completely dry?"

Staff Answer In our dry mask recipes we usually only mix with water. If mixed with an oil it would most likely not dry completely.

Mixing with oil will block the purifying action of the clay and won't dry like water would.

You could also mix it with a little milk at application time for a milk-mud enzyme mask.

Whenever I make a mask with a drawing clay, I will mix with water and then add a few drops of vitamin E or other oil such as olive oil. The mask will still dry out, without being too oily or too drying. Aloe vera is also nice to add, but not everyone has those ingredients on hand.

It depends on the ingredients in your mask. If you recipe includes a non oil liquid you will need to preserve or refrigerate. I like to make the mask dry and add my desired liquid when I'm ready to use it.

Yes, if you plan on mixing it with water (or keeping it longer than a one-time use) you will need a preservative.

I like to add liquid to my mask just before use so no preservative is needed, however, if you want to store it wet, a preservative will be needed. I wouldn't store in refrigerator over 5 days not preserved.

Staff Answer If adding the sea clay to your mud scrub, I would recommend to use 25%-50%. Make sure to test your recipe. I would test a small batch to see if you need to add more or less to the ingredients.
