Product Details

Pure Shea Butter considered to be high in vitamin/mineral content which is thought to be useful on dry skin. Refined and deodorized with natural clays. Takes a higher temperature than most to melt. Shea Butter is a very popular butter used in soap and cosmetics, including lotion, cream, and lip balm. Pronounced: Shh-aye

Directions:

DIRECTIONS: Slowly stir melted product into the oil portion of your formulation. Common use levels are lip products 5-100%, cold process soap 3-6%, lotions and creams 3-5%. Can be applied directly to the skin.

TIPS: The average melting point for the butter is 100°F. Butters provide moisturizing properties to products. To minimize greasy after feel we recommend blending with 1-3% cornstarch or isopropyl myristate. Test your final product to insure optimal performance.

STORAGE: Store in an airtight, cool, dark location. When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase.

"i am using this as a base for a whipped body butter along with coconut oil. i am also adding a small bit of calendula oil and aloe oil. i have added the slick fix too. it whips beautifully but i noticed after a while the oils separate.... what can i do to prevent that? any advice on percentages or anything else would be helpful and appreciated. thank you"

Staff Answer Without knowing the exact recipe, it is hard to know for sure what is causing this. Is it possible the product is melting which would cause the separation? You might want to consider making an emulsified body butter which would be more like a thick cream.

"Hello, I just received this high melt shea butter, and even in cold weather, its extremely soft. I usually get the regular refined, which is hard. Also, it melted way before the thin cocoa butter pieces did in a small trial. Could this have been packaged wrong? It doesnt feel like shea butter. Thanks"

Staff Answer The average melt point for the High Melt Shea butter is 104-114°F. The average melt point for the Ultra Refined Shea and the Natural Shea is 90°F. Therefore the High Melt Shea Butter has a higher melt point and will remain more solid at room temperature.

Melt point is affected by the density of the oils. Unrefined means the oil has been removed in its natural state (usually cold pressed/expeller pressed). Refined usually involves heat, but can vary.

I love to use the high melt point shea butter in lip balms and lotion bars. When I was using regular shea, my balms and lotion bars would get grainy really easily, especially if they got too warm in a pocket or shipping. Since I started using the high melt point shea, I have no more problems with them getting grainy anymore, the products stay nice and smooth!!

"White Shea butter rocks!"

COMMENTS: I really liked this product because it was the same as raw Shea butter without the yellow hue or scent. I did a size by side comparison of white vs. yellow in a lotion and lotion bar. I like the white better because it made it easy to scent my lotion and lotion bars without adding extra scent to cover up the Shea butter natural scent. And the no color was a bonus since I wanted both lotions to be uncolored.

In the past I tried to melt by using the microwave but just to warn you it flashes when I tried so I realized not to melt it this way. With the room temp method it easily melts with no problem. "Very luxurious Shea Butter"

COMMENTS: This butter is very white, smooth and with no odor. Excellent choice for lotions and lotion bars. I buy all our Shea Butter from WSP. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars are for 2 reasons. I find it makes my lotions slightly more greasy than using the regular ultra refined Shea butter. The trade-off is that this is never grainy, regardless of temperature and re-melting. Secondly, this product should be sold in buckets. It is messy, the bags never close right once opened, and I always waste several ounces because I get tired of scooping it out and creating more of a greasy mess than I already have when I make lotions.

I see such a big difference in the Shea butter quality since I started buying from WSP; this product is creamy and smooth instead of flaky and awkward to measure. "Love this shea!!!"

COMMENTS: This is my FAVORITE butter! Unlike every other shea I've ever tried (no matter how I handled it/heated it /quickly cooled it), this shea does not turn grainy. It stays creamy, smooth, and AWSOME in lip balms. Plus it's cream colored so it won't turn your balms yellow. Best shea ever! I wish they could make a mango and cocoa butter like this too.

"Great moisturizer, terrible packaging"

COMMENTS: Love using Shea Butter in my product line. Great to melt down & not have the gritty texture that Shea Butter can yield over time with high melting techniques. I dislike how WSP packages this butter up. Reminds me of scraping Crisco out of the cardboard container, except Crisco is easier to measure out especially now with the Crisco sticks.

"Shea Butter"

COMMENTS: I made whipped body butter with this and the results were very nice. The only thing I didn't like was the container. It comes in a bag and it's difficult to get it all out (even if you cut the bag and scrape down the sides). It would be great if it came in the same 1 pound containers that the foaming bath whip comes in. Otherwise, it's a fantastic product that I will reorder.

	"I had no idea what the rave was about "
COMMENTS: I had always wanted to try shea butter, but I had always read that if you are sensitive to latex, you should avoid shea. I'm not highly sensitive to latex, but have enough of a reaction that I will start itching and a small welts develop if I am in close contact for a long period of time. Because of that I have stayed far away from shea. That and the fact that I had always read that others had a grainy product after melting shea butter. I took a chance and ordered this. I am so glad I did. I made lotion with this and I am so amazed at how great it feels. I love using the shea butter. I have used it straight out of the container and I have yet to see a reaction other than great feeling and looking skin.

	"High Melt, Ultra Refined Sea Butter"
COMMENTS: Love, love, love the High Melt Shea Butter from WSP. I was having trouble with the final stages of my body butter becoming granular then read about the tendency of regular shea having this propensity in higher temps. I tried reducing the temp of the batch to eliminate the problem but didn't get a consistant emulsion. Then I discovered WSP's high melt shea butter!! I tried it out on the first batch and "WALLA", no more granularity! Thanks WSP for providing wonderful supplies to help the small manufactures create quality products!

COMMENTS: Very smooth and creamy. I use it to make whipped body butters. Shea Butter has always been on my favorite list. I have noticed that some say that Shea ends up hard after it sets up. I have not found this to be true at all. My body butters remain smooth & creamy without adding additional carrier oils.
