This product is not on the CA Prop 65 list of toxic chemicals.

This product conforms to the reporting requirements of California Proposition 65 (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986). We are conforming to the regulation by reporting the existence, or lack thereof, of ingredients deemed reportable by the above mentioned regulations via a Safety Data Sheet (SDS), in Section 15 "Regulatory Information." Directions & Ingredients
International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI):
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)

Common Name Ingredient Listing (FDA Approved):
Shea Butter

Directions:

DIRECTIONS: Slowly stir melted product into the oil portion of your formulation.  Common use levels are lip products 5-100%, cold process soap 3-6%, lotions and creams 3-5%.  Can be applied directly to the skin.

TIPS: The average melting point for the butter is 90°F.  Shea Butter will feel grainy when it is melted and rehardens.  To avoid the gritty texture, heat the shea butter to 170-185°F and keep at a steady temperature for 10-15 minutes. Rapidly cool by placing the butter in refrigerator. Butters provide moisturizing properties to products. Test your final product to insure optimal performance.

STORAGE: Store in an airtight, cool, dark location.  When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase.

CAUTION: For external use only. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

"I have an older sister that has severe allergies to nuts. She has a problem with products that contain cocoa butter and some of the palm oil products but can use and eat avocados, peaches and apricots which allows her to use the oils in her skin care products. What is a good substitute for cocoa butter? I was thinking of using the refined shea butter or the mango butter. Would these be good substitutes?"

"Not quite as good as the high melt shea "
COMMENTS:  The consistency is good but this shea butter is harder than the ultra refined high melt shea. Also, even with high speed whipping I am having problems with getting all the little lumps out. I don't want to melt this and run into the grainy problem. So three stars for the small lumps.
