About This Recipe:

Winter lips will love this exfolating brown sugar lip scrub made with versagel. Added cocoa butter coats chapped lips while giving it a chocolatey taste.

Shopping List:

(1) 2 oz Versagel Lip Gloss Base

(1) 2 oz Cocoa Butter Wafers - Natural

(1) 1/2 oz Jojoba Oil - Golden

(1) 2 oz Castor Oil

(1) 1/2 oz Vitamin E Natural T-50

(1) 2 oz Brown Sugar - Raw Demerara Crystals

(1) 2 oz Sugar - White Granulated Sugar

(7) 1 Set 1/2 oz Clear Pot & Clear Screw Top

Recipe Ingredients:

Measure ingredients with a scale or precise measuring tool.

• 2 oz. Versagel Lip Gloss Base
• .5 oz. Cocoa Butter Wafers - Natural
• .25 oz. Jojoba Oil - Golden
• .25 oz. Castor Oil
• .25 oz. Vitamin E Natural T-50
• 1.00 oz. Brown Sugar - Raw Demerara Crystals
• 1.00 oz. Sugar - White Granulated Sugar

Equipment From Home:

• (2) Microwave Safe Measuring Cup
• (1) Spoon or Spatula
• (1) Microwave
• (1) Scale - Digital Display
• (1) mortar and pestle

Directions:

NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron, workspace and sanitized equipment.

In a microwave safe bowl, add 2 ounces of Versagel and heat in the microwave for 45 seconds.
In another microwave safe bowl, measure .5 oz. of cocoa butter wafers, microwave fo 40 seconds or until melted.
Add melted cocoa butter, jojoba oil and caster oil to the versagel and stir well.
Using a mortar and pestle grind up the brown sugar so it is not so coarse.
Add bown sugar and white sugar to the versagel mixture. Stir well.
Add Vitamin E and stir.
Divide evenly between the 7 jars.
Label accordingly.

To use: Gently rub a small amount of sugar scrub over lips. Rinse off with warm water .

"Hi! Prior answer says that Phenonip can be used as a preservative. How much for this recipe? And what would be the shelf life of the finished product - before and after adding a preservative? "

"I made this recipe this week. The next day - all of the oil had risen to the top of the jars. This isn't very convenient to use..as you would have to stir with your finger before applying scrub to your lips. Is there a way to thicken/emulsify the ingredients so this doesn't happen?"
