"In order to determine amount of fragrance/ essential oil to use, I have seen two ways to determine amount explained on website. #1 base max ifra max container max, containers I checked didn't have % listed? #2 base max ifra max smell %, how do you determine this? "The IFRA guideline for Anise EO in soap is .1%. Is this anise EO strong enough for the scent to come through in cold process at such a low usage? Or do I need to blend it to compensate for the low amount of anise?"

I would say the essential oils ARE safer than fragrance oils. Essential oils are 100% certified pure oils, where as the fragrance oils sold at WSP are made of "natural and synthetic aroma ingredients" as posted on areas of the website.

"Safe" is a vague term. People are allergic to natural things, such as herbs, fruit, vegetables, and animal products. With regards to allergies, the likelihood is higher with EOs than with fragrance oils.

"EXCELLENT FOR CP SOAP"

COMMENTS: This essential oil smells sooooo good! Unfortunately, I and my niece are the only ones that enjoy the smell of anise, so it was not a good seller, but if you like this scent, then go for it. It holds up beautifully in CP soap and behaves very well.

"Smells just like licorice"

COMMENTS: The anise EO is awesome in my cold processed soap. It did not cause it to trace fast. No change in color. I use unrefined coconut oil, I know for me, this did make a difference in how my soaps traced. Will be buying this again this winter.

"Wonderful!"

COMMENTS: Great fragrance to couple with peppermint in my Farrier Hand soap. The strong scent of black licorice helps descent the hands. I added activated charcoal to the soap for a great look. Very happy with this essential oil. It behaves very well, too.

"Absolutely Stable Scent"

COMMENTS: Use this in my activated charcoal CP soap. I use 6TBL for a 10 lb batch and that is more than enough! Delicious smell is how i would describe it. The staying power of the scent is EXCELLENT and lasts..well forever. It is just so stable..the most stable aroma i have used. So no issues of fading after a few months. It is strong so you don't have to use too much.

COMMENTS: I got this to use in a cp soap for hunters, but have yet to try it that way. What I did was add it to a carrier oil in a little vial for my husband to use when hunting. He applied it like a perfume, and it really worked to mask his scent while hunting. The animals would walk right up to him without even knowing he was there! He said it has never happened like that before. I don't think the animals are particularly attracted to the scent, but rather it hides the human scent from them. I'm planning to put some in a lotion bar next.

"True Licorice Smell"

COMMENTS: I hesitantly ordered this just to try it. My husband is a sucker for licorice, but picky--he likes the real, gourmet licorice taste. This scent is a hit with him! And I love it too, it is mouthwatering and hard not to want to eat the soap! It did cause my cold process to accelerate and heat up, but just expect that. It did not cause discoloration, and the scent lasted through saponification and 8 weeks curing at 1 oz/lb of oils.

"Lovely!"

COMMENTS: This EO is so sweet and lovely! It reminds me of pizelle cookies my husband's late grandmother always made! He was very happy to take a whiff and authenticate one of his favorite childhood memories too! I used it in CP and it behaved perfectly and two days after I molding, the aroma has stayed first in line to other EO's in the soap. Is saying it's delicious (in soap) going too far? I cannot help myself! Haha :) A little went a long way :)

"Bath Tea Favorite"

COMMENTS: I used this product to scent my bath salts/epson salt that I placed inside of my bath teas. It was such a compliment with my lavender chamomile leaves. It made a perfect night time/ relaxing bath tea very soothing in scent and you only need a few drops which will provide a long lasting fragance. I accidently got a little on my hands and even after multiple hand washing the fragance was still present. I would definelty purchase this item again

COMMENTS: Licorice is one of those scents you either love or hate. There doesn't seem to be an in-between. I LOVE IT! And the funny thing I've found is that men love it too! It's so sweet and rich. One whiff just makes all my stress melt away! Something about licorice! Mmmmmm! No discolor. Behaved well.

COMMENTS: I purchased this product way back in September of 2014 and only just used it to make a 'hunter's' soap, I hope the hunters find it worthwhile I myself am not crazy about the scent but it is what it is represented to be. It's strange because I actually like the smell of star anise, but this is pretty overpowering so a little will go a long way. I am satisfied with the product, because I bought it for a specific purpose and I feel that it fulfilled that purpose.

"Anise EO"

COMMENTS: I had been wanting to try this essential oil and finally ordered it. I had read some reviews from others in various venues; knew that the aroma and learned that it is not everyone's favorite however I needed it to complete a range of EO's which I blend. To my delight, I was able to use this and was satisfied with the result. In cold process soap, it is very strong at first and after the soap is cured becomes much more tolerant scent-wise. I am not one who dislikes the aroma however I am aware that it is a unique aroma and because it fit my need I was very satisfied with it's performance.

COMMENTS: Wonderful anise EO. Works well in some blends. I have a few customers who like anise strait up(not my fav though), and they love this one. If you are not familiar with anise, it smells like black licorice. Use at .4 oz per pound of oil.

COMMENTS: I use to dig the Anis Root when I was a kid walking with my great uncle. We were walking along a dirt road in southern Ohio. He knew the plant and we would dig the root so his wife could make Licorice Jelly Beans! This smells exactly like the scent of that root....Oh, so good was that candy....just takes me back in time!!!! Behaves well in CP soap and no ricing or seizing.....Plenty of time to work with....So you don't have to rush with this one.....
