You can use Olive Oil for a substitute. It works just as well and has the closest resemblance to Avocado Oil.

It depends on the other oils used in the recipe and what qualities you want in your soap. Use WSP's Lye Calculator - it is very useful in creating a recipe. Soap made with 100% avocado oil would be conditioning and creamy, but not very cleansing.

Avocado oil is a heavy, green, rich, moisturizing oil that has a high percentage of unsaponifiables (the portions of the oil that don't react with the lye to form soap,) so it's a good oil to superfat with! It's often used in soap recipes for people with sensitive skin. I usually only use around 5-30%!

I see the effects at 5%. It really shines around 10%. If you wanted serious conditioning, you could go up to 20-30%. I'd use with at least 50% hard oils so all that goodness doesn't melt away to quickly. If you want bubble, add some coconut. Pull up the soap calculator and play!

It's great for dry skin, including the face. It's one of the oils that is very low on the list for clogging pores. It would be a nice addition because it's loaded with Vitamin E.

Good oil to add to facial products. Avocado is high in healthy fats, but low chance of clogging pores. This is also a good base for massage oils.

Yes, even sensitive skin! Rich but not too heavy. A little jojoba, about 10%, really seems to help lock this oil in to further prevent drying.

Hi! I use this in a soap formulation specifically for acne-prone skin. I can also use a bit of the oil on dry spots and don't have any problems with it aggravating problem skin. This is a good choice, but always test if you are using the oil directly :)

Staff Answer Yes, Avocado Oil and Aloe Vera Oil are both popular to use in haircare products. The descriptions for both mention they are good for moisturizing. We used both products in our Hair Treatment: Sea Salt Hair Spritz recipe. You would need to figure out what percentages are good for the formulation you are creating.
