Details

Cut soap base into small pieces, and melt in the microwave at 30-second intervals (or use a double boiler), stirring until fully liquefied. Once melted, add cosmetic color, fragrance, and other skin-safe additives—this base can hold up to 5% total additives—then pour the mixture into a Crafter’s Choice mold and spritz the surface with rubbing alcohol to reduce bubbles. Allow the soap to cool completely before unmolding, then wrap it in airtight plastic wrap to preserve freshness. Melted soap is hot and should be used with caution; recommended for ages 15 and older.

Q&A

How long is the curing process?: There is no curing process for Melt and Pour soap. Once you unmold the soap, it is ready to use.
Is there lue already in the base or should i add some to the product?: Sodium hydroxide, or lye, is a part of the soapmaking process and nothing else needs to be added, other than fragrance and color, if desired.
My finished product comes out very sticky after unmomlding my soap, and my fragrance isn't as strong as it is out of the bottle. Am I doing something wrong? I use the microwave to melt, separate my bases to color/layer, and add the fragrance. could the oils in the fragrance be my problem? too much fragrance? the microwaving? or the m&p brand? Should I move up to premium or signature to eliminate this problem?: Hi Kimberly, I would suggest calling our customer service department at 1-800-359-0944 to help troubleshoot this for you.
When layering can I use two different bases such as Premium Extra Clear and Basic MP White Soap bases together? Or is it better to use Premium Clear and White vs say Basic and Premium?: Hi Courtney - You can layer with different soap bases, and have a quality finished product. Do keep in mind that basic soap bases have less added detergents than premiums bases so the end result of layering with these two bases will be slightly less bubbly than if you layered with two premium bases.
I've found this base to be too oily in my soaps and it sweats. Which other base would be better for me to use?: Try the premium or signature version. I do not have a problem with those.
