"On your recipe for room spray, it says to use 32oz of body splash, 6oz modifier, and 1 oz of FO. It did this and it only smells good if I spray it on me and not as a room smell. How many FO to make it stronger for room spray?"

"You have 3 products that I buy. Moisturizing mist II, Body Splash, and FO EO modifier. I make body sprays and I want to know if it is safe to mix with Artisans Perfume Base from Rustic Essentials. Ive been experiencing with them. So I would mix the perfume base, with the Fo Eo Modifier, and Moisturizing Miss II or the Body Splash, FO EO modifier, and Perfume base? What are your thoughts and are these safe to mix together. Of coarse FO is also mixed in accord pro INFRA information. Thank you."

Staff Answer You would not need to mix any of these bases with the Artisan's Perfume Base. All you would need to add is your fragrance and it will easily incorporate since it is alcohol based.

Staff Answer You will first want to mix 1 part fragrance with 1 part stabilizer since the vanilla content is over 10%. From there, you will add 4 parts modifier to 1 part of the VCS/FO mixture. You will then add 1% of the total mixture to your product.

"I have been buying the modified version of the flash, I noticed that this is 7lbs and the modified version is 8lbs for the jug. What I want to know is which of them is better for adding fragrance, which can take more fragrance and which is better for larger scale production. Its confusing. Staff Answer Our Luxury Moisturizing Mist - Modified is easier to add fragrance to due to the modifier already in the base. Both can hold up to 2% fragrance or essential oil. Both bases are available in 50 gallon drums, so it might be in your best interest to buy 16 ounces of each base and test them out to see which would be the best fit for you.

"I'm making the body splash and see in the info that it accepts up to 2% FO/EO. I used the fragrance calculator and the recommended % for the FO's I have varies from 0.6% to 10%. Do I still only use up to 2% eventhough the calculator says more than that? "

Staff Answer Two percent is the max amount the base will accept without a modifier. For the fragrances that recommend a lower percentage, you will need to follow those so that you aren't exceeding IFRA maximums.

Staff Answer If you are referring to the recipe for Sparkling Clean Multi-Spray/Hand Wash Set, the Body Splash is simply a base for the recipe. The added essential oils may have antibacterial properties. The base will not disinfect on its own and we do not recommend using this for killing germs.

Staff Answer We only have this base or the Luxury Moisturizing Mist for a product of this type. It is simply a carrier for adding the essential oils for a cleaning product that might not be as harsh as you would purchase in the store.

Staff Answer If you do not use a modifier, the fragrance and water soluble Body Splash will separate. You can also use Polysorbate 20 instead of the FO/EO Modifier. Most fragrances will need a modifier but you may find a few that blend without it. You would need to test this first. You would need to contact our Customer Service Department regarding any returns. Staff Answer We are not sure if you mean aloe vera oil, gel, juice? You will need to test the product you want to add. As long as it is water soluble, it should blend into the Body Splash. If adding a fragrance oil, you will need to add EO/FO Modifier or Poly 20 to help blend into the Body Splash.

Staff Answer The flashpoint for this product is greater than 200°F. At that point, it may combust. You are fine to heat this (any amount) in a microwave-safe container just until warm to the touch. You can also look at some of the recipes we have made with this base to see how the product is made. This may be helpful to you.

Staff Answer Since we do not carry Cetalox, we cannot advise you on its use. Our body splash makes a very nice body spritz or perfume. Since it is a water-based product and only accepts up to 2% fragrance oil, it may not be as long lasting as you may want.

"It says the Body Splash can take up to 2% fragrance load does that 2% include the FO Modifier mixture (so only add 2% of my FO+FO modifier mixture or can I add a full 2% FO)? Staff Answer The 2% does include the modifier so you would blend the modifier and FO 4:1 and then take your 2% fragrance from that. For 8 oz., you would blend 1 ml fragrance with 4 ml modifier. This would equal 2% or 5 ml.

Staff Answer If you are talking about soaking the sticks with a mixture of Body Splash and fragrance oil, we would not recommend this. Reed sticks can be soaked with a mixture of DPG (Dipropylene Glycol and fragrance oil.

Staff Answer A modifier is needed to mix the fragrance oil with this water-based product. Otherwise, these will separate. If the fragrance contains vanilla, you would need to use Vanilla Color Stabilizer for Lotions and Washes.

"Can the fragrance oil modifier be added after the product is made and becomes cloudy. I have 4 bottles made and they are cloudy only about 1 inch at the top. The remainder of the bottle is clear. The fragrance used was Orange pomegranate and I used 2% of fo."

Staff Answer We do not recommend adding our EO & FO Modifier into your final product. In the future the modifier should be added to the fragrance oil and that mixture should be added to your base.

The information section says to heat it to 110* to fully incorporate if the mixture is cloudy or the oil floats or sinks. I hope this helps!

"Could this be used to carry essential oils for a natural bug repellent? The original recipe calls for 1/2 water 1/2 witch hazel. If I use this product, would I still need to add witch hazel?"

Staff Answer This base will hold essential oils nicely. Remember that bug repellent is regulated by the EPA. We recommend making the product for another reason and it "happens to not be attractive to bugs."

Staff Answer The product alone should come out as a mist, depending on the additives in your final product it may be too thick to mist out of the sprayer top which is resulting in a stream.

Yes, this can be used as a linen spray. Be sure to stay within the IFRA skin safe usage rates when adding fragrances and if adding color be sure not to use too much as this may stain your pillows or linens.

Two options are to increase your fragrance usage in your product in accordance with the IFRA safe usage rate or to try another stronger fragrance. If the fragrance is too light and airy it may not give you the smell that you are looking for.

Staff Answer Hi Ryan - Great question! The FO & EO modifier is typically used with this product, but is not always required. It really depends on the fragrance used. Some will incorporate just fine into the base, but others will cloud it or make it look undesirable.

Staff Answer Hi Natalie, There are no limits to the amount of liquid additives that you can add to a body splash, however we recommend that you test your product for changes in consistency prior to sale. Also, although this product accepts fragrance up to 2% verify the IFRA usage rates for each particular scent.

Yes, I'm making both. I used the shower gel for my body wash. I used the body splash for the body spray. Both have a dirty, frothy film on top. I am trying to figure out how to save this batch, plus not repeat my mistake. I used the EO/FO modifier in both.

Staff Answer Hi Kerry - Try spritzing the top with rubbing alcohol to see if that helps "pop" some of the bubbles that have formed. We think the foam for both the body splash and shower gel is a result from over stirring. Hope this helps!

Staff Answer Unfortunately, the oxides will not color this base. Oxides do not completely dissolve, but will disperse in a product. In the liquid version of this colorant, the oxides are dispersed in glycerin, making it ideal for use in MP Soap. Because Body Splash is composed of such a high water percentage, the oxides will end up sinking. We recommend our Stained Glass Liquid colors for the Body Splash base.

Hello, To warm this product I would suggest using the microwave. This way you can control the time, temperature, and wattage. I would suggest starting off in 20-30 second increments (depending upon your microwave) to warm it up. It should not be boiling hot though. Just warmed. I would not suggest stovetop. I would do it in a microwave safe container in very short bursts to get it to the desired temp.

The product is only being warmed when cloudiness occurs. If your FOs aren't causing cloudiness, there is no need to heat.

It depends. A good perfume spray (such as those from an actual perfume company, not one that just does body washes/shower gels/body sprays etc) will be made with better quality ingredients and these are a more comparable base. Many cheaper commercial body sprays/splashes are made with alcohol, as it is inexpensive to work with. So, if you're comparing to one of those chains of bath-and-body supplies, this is a much better base in my opinion.

Store bought perfumes contain alcohol which has a lower flash point and can be more dangerous to work with, ship, etc. This does not which makes it safer and the ingredients are a higher quality.

Staff Answer They are two similar but different formulas. The Crafter's Choice Bath Splash allows for a higher fragrance percentage. The Luxury Moisturizing Mist has a more silky after feel.
