Product Details

Bubble Wash Thickener is carefully designed to thicken liquid bubble bases including bubble bath, shower gel, and shampoo! It is extremely helpful in bases that have thinned due to the addition of fragrance oil. It is safe to use in adult and baby cosmetic products.

Directions:

DIRECTIONS: Heat product to above 122°F (50ºC) and slowly stir into fully cooled liquid wash that has been colored and fragranced. Common use level is 1-5%, depending on how thick you would like your wash to become.

TIPS: This product can be used in baby and adult formulations. Test your final product to insure optimal performance. Protect clothing and work area when mixing.

STORAGE: Store in an airtight, cool, dark location. When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase.

CAUTION: For external use only. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

"what is the best way to add this to an already finished body wash? i already made a body wash using shower gel, fo/eo mod, & a fo. so it's already been mixed and cooled and at the time was a nice consistency, but now that it is cooled completely (a week later, it is pretty thin. i never had to use the thickener before so unsure on how to use it. Staff Answer In most cases yes. But it depends on your fragrance. Some fragrances will cause the Shower Gel to cloud and others will not. You will need to test your formula for compatibility.

"For heating this product in a microwave, is it completely necessary to heat to that exact temperature, or are we just aiming to get it hot enough to be easier to combine with our soap products. I ask because trying to continuously heat, stir and test a very small quantity (such as the amount for an 8 oz sample), may result in the loss of a bit of the product on the thermometer by the time the heating process is over. For 16 oz, I would start with about a tablespoon. You can always add more, but it can get thick quickly. Certain FO's and EO's will thin the base. Play around a bit, but 1 Tbls would be a good start.

I have been using this as 1 tbsp per 16 ounces of the basic shower gel base and it thickens nicely with about 90% of the fragrances I've tried so far (about 60 varieties). The more stubborn ones thickened at 1.5 tbsp per 16 oz.

Staff Answer Per our 'Overview', the Suggested Use Level for this is 1-8%. So using our Percentage Conversion Chart in the 'Learning Library' section of our site, 1% is 5ml, which is a teaspoon. But you can use up to 8%, which is 1 oz or 2 Tablespoons. Our suggestion is to start off with a smaller amount and test it to see if it is what you want. Sometimes having more is not better and may be too much for what you are looking for. Hope this helps!

"As for the amount to use, one staff answer below says to start with 1/2 teaspoon per 8 oz. and Karin says to use 1 Tablespoon per 16 oz. I know there is some variation in the use of this product, but are there some recommended percentages for the use of this product? If so, could you please list them on the "Directions" page? "Be very careful"

COMMENTS: I just needed a little thickening to my liquid soap. Boy boy boy it was too thick it came out just like school glue. My soap doesn't foam like before I added it. I rub it in my hands and it just stays there very messy. Other than that I love the way it feels once I got it off my hands. My product feels like luxury. I would use with caution.

"Bubble Wash Thickener"

COMMENTS: This is a must-have for anyone making shower gels or liquid soaps. When you add Bubble Wash Thickener you'll no longer have the problem of liquid soaps becoming too thin or watery due to adding fragrance oils. A little goes a long way, so add sparingly. I always have some on hand, just in case I need it. Only drawback is that it is frequently out of stock so you have to wait to order.

"I like this but I need a lot to get the thickness"

COMMENTS: I used 6 oz in my 96 oz of wash it thickened it a little but not enough so I am buying the 1 lb. I wish there was another way to keep my washes for thinning so much. By the time you add all the ingredients plus the thickener you have to charge such a high price for the body wash.

"Problem Solved! "

COMMENTS: This Bubble Wash Thickener really saved the day for me when the fragrance blend I used thinned out the body wash base I added it to considerably. I used WSP's Crystal Clear base, and I know for certain it was my FO blend that caused it, as the base itself was the perfect consistency when I started my project. From what I understand, certain fragrances can sometimes either thicken or thin out a base, and in my case, it was the latter. Thankfully, WSP has a fix for that, and I sure am grateful for it! I'd already added my EO/FO modified fragrance & color to the base, so was worried it was too late, but relieved to know this can certainly be added to finished & colored bases! For me, I warmed the thickener above 122°F & added 1% at a time until I reached desired consistency. I ended up needing the full recommended 5% to regain the consistency I'd lost, but was happy that lather was NOT compromised, and neither was my colorant! It's back to being the perfect consistency again, and I couldn't be happier with how well this thickener saved my batch!

"Works great to thicken liquid soap"

COMMENTS: Works great to thicken both HP liquid soap (made from scratch) and detergent based shampoo. Works great in every recipe I've used. I originally was using a saline solution(since it's natural) to thicken these products, but over timeit kept separating out(yuck!!!), so I switched to bubble wash thickener. The bubble wash thickener may not be natural, but it preforms better so that's why I'm using it instead.

COMMENTS: I just started making shower gels and did not have the thickener for the first batch made, which turned out lovely for the most part, but was far too thin after adding the fragrance oils. After receiving this product and using it, I won't make shower gels without it. The bubbles it creates is ASTONISHING and WONDERFUL - and it keeps my product nicely thickened. As others have stated, it only takes a little, but haven't come up with a definitive amount yet - and none were mentioned in the previous reviews. It would be very helpful to know what the ratio should be, if anyone can help with that, I'd be grateful.

First time I think I added a bit too much-bubble bath was REALLY thick! But if you're looking for something to thicken your liquid soaps after adding fragrance-this is easy to use, just don't use too much! haha! I plan on trying it in my shower gels next as the bases seem to thin too much for my liking after adding oils to them!

Jut start with a small amount to be sure your bubble wash will pour out of the bottle. really enhances your bubbles, too. It stays clear enough to read thru. I hope this product stays in the line. "Best thickener I have found"

COMMENTS: I love the way this thickener works! Some of the scents that I use water down my shower gel and this product always does the trick. I hate adding salt as a thickener so, I always use this product. I can't get enough of it. Its much easier than gar gum and some of the other thickeners so if your products get thinned by some scents, this product will work for you.

"Thickens my liquid soap nicely"

COMMENTS: I used this to thicken my homemade liquid soap which I use for body and hair. Worked better than adding salt water to liquid soap.

COMMENTS: I was frustrated because my shower gel base always thins out after adding the f/o. I purchase this bubble wash thickener and "WALLA" it works. Its not super thick but it is thick enough. :-)

COMMENTS: If you are making shower gel, you will need this product. A little goes a very long way, but this is an absolute must as some fragrances will thin out the consistency of shower gel base to water.

"A Life Saver!"

COMMENTS: There is nothing quite as disappointing as having prepared a beautiful batch of shower gels or shampoos and finding the next day that they have turned watery. This little gem has saved me so much time and product I would have lost due to fragrance thinning my bases. A little goes a long way and imo, it's so much easier to control than Xanthan gum.

"Great Thickener"

COMMENTS: My body wash base thinned a little after adding FO. This stuff works like a champ to thicken it back up and you don't need a whole lot. Great stuff!

COMMENTS: My first attempt at using shampoo base was a big failure. The fragrance oil thinned out the shampoo so much that it almost wasn't usable. After reading some other reviews I decided to try using the bubble wash thickener. Well, a little goes a long way! A tiny bit thickened the watered down shampoo just perfectly. Now I am able to provide my customers with a thick, lathery shampoo with oodles of fragrance. I will never be without this thickener again!
