Our Candelilla Wax is 100% pure and cosmetic grade. It is a very hard wax with superior quality. Mixes well into most formulas containing animal, vegetable and mineral oils. Non-animal based wax. Great for lip balm, cuticle cream, lotions bars and wax tarts. It is quick absorbing and also very emollient, making it great to soothe chapped lips.

"Perfect substitute for beeswax. . . but be aware that you need to test your recipe as you may only need to use half the amount of wax when replacing beeswax with Candelilla. It's a harder or brittle wax, but perfect for vegan customers. Lip balms are nice and spreadable and soft on the lips. . not a heavy waxy feeling. Used also in lotions at a low percent. . . this gave the heavier body cream a bit more ""staying power"" and protection from the elements. Leaves no odor, but it is yellow the the color is a bit whitish-yellowish depending on your lotion or lip balm recipe."

Did you know that your answers conflict on the same question that was asked on 03/23/2016 and 11/01/2014?You claim that beeswax is harder and has higher melting point than candelia wax in one, the complete opposite in other answer. :): When replacing beeswax with candelilla wax, a good guideline is to use approximately half the quantity of candelilla wax. This is because candelilla wax is firmer and has a higher melting point, which means you need less of it to reach the same texture. Therefore, for every 1 gram of beeswax, you should use about 0.5 grams of candelilla wax.Candelilla wax: Has a melting point of 68–73°C (155–162.5°F) Beeswax: Has a melting point of 61–65°C (144–147°F)
Can this wax be used for candles? I need a very hard wax as my tarts always break coming out of the molds.: Yes you can use this product in a wax tart.
