Product Details

Cetyl Alcohol is a saturated linear chain cetyl alcohol that can enhance the stability and texture of creams and lotions. In doing so, they present a smooth, dense appearance to these formulations and improve their feel on the skin. It is a mild, non-toxic and non-irritating waxy material with a typical sweet odor. It is light resistant and stable in the presence of acids or alkali, as well as stable to oxidation.

No what I’m trying to ask is if it is okay to use all 3 emulsifying wax - stearic acid and Cetyl alcohol or do I have to replace one of those ingredients if I want to use Cetyl?

"Creamy Textured Lotion"

COMMENTS: I used the cetyl alcohol flakes at 2.5% in my creamy lotion butter recipe and the consistency came out beautiful. So, silky and creamy. I use this lotion on my hands repeatedly throughout the day and the inside of my hands, which tends to get pretty rough, is smooth, even after washing. I love it! Great product.

"Amazing skin feel"

COMMENTS: I loved the skin feel of this product. I prefer this over the stearic acid because this has a wonderful glide while stearic acid has too much drag for my taste. If I has to choose this or the stearic acid as a co-emulsifier and thickener I would choose this any day. If you want something with more staying power but with glide, I recommend combining this with the stearic acid. You'd have to test out the ratios yourself though. Honestly, a little bit of this (as low as 2%) makes a huge difference!

"Easy to use emulsion stabilizer"

COMMENTS: Cetyl alcohol is an easy to use emulsion stabilizer with lighter feel than stearic acid, which is almost always a plus. These flakes are easy to pour out and measure into any batch, and goes great in any product that you want to increase viscosity or add hardness that contain oils.

COMMENTS: Gives my emulsion(s) that perfect emollient slip and glide. Just tried @3% in a lotion bar... and let me tell you it’s awesome! You know how lotion bars can be a bit skid-like I tried using a bit of this in my formula and it gives a beautiful glide that melts perfect into the skin (on contact ) such a fun ingredient to experiment with, and one I will never go without. If you make lotion products grab some, you won’t regret it!
