Directions:

MELT: Determine amount of melt and pour soap base needed for your project. Carefully slice soap base into small pieces and place in microwave safe container. Heat on low at 30 second intervals. Stir between intervals until liquid. Handle hot soap carefully as it may burn the skin. Soap can also be melted in a double boiler.

MOLD: Stir in cosmetic color, cosmetic scent, and skin safe additives. Pour into a Crafter's Choice mold. Spritz soap surface with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles. Allow to cool until hard.

ENJOY: Remove from mold and wrap with airtight plastic wrap. Your newly created melt and pour soap is now ready to use!

CAUTION: Melted soap is hot! For ages 15 and older.

"I used this as a two layered soap with an embed of a cherry on top. The top layer was white.. I kept it wrapped for about 3 weeks until I can cut it but it turned brown on me. I used plastic wrap from the grocery store. Any idea why that happened? Maybe I wrapped it too quick and I didn't let it sit? Almost looked like it went bad."

"I love this base! Although, it's still a bit soft and it doesn't last much in the shower as other bases you sell. I used 3% stearic acid and it helps but I don't know if curing the soap would help. -If so how long should I cure it? -What's your hardest base soap you have? -Is it good that this base has such an alkaline pH? You can melt the soap in short bursts in the microwave, stopping periodically to stir the soap until it is fully melted.

Staff Answer You can melt mp soap in the microwave, stirring at 30 second intervals or until melted. Many people like to use a double boiler because soap cannot burn or overheat with this method. A third option is to place the soap in a pot on the stove top on very low heat, being careful not to burn or boil the soap (causes discoloration). The last option is a roasting pan on low heat.

30 second bursts in the microwave is the only method I use for melting melt and pour soap. I cut into 1 inch cubes, place into the microwave in my Pyrex glass measuring cup and stir between 30 second bursts until melted.

Most people suggest the microwave, which I don't like, especially for milk soaps or honey soaps, or any soap really with nutrients in it, the microwave kills them and also runs the risk of your soap ingredients separating. The double boiler/stove method could land you with a sticky messy stove or possible burns. I melt all my soaps and butters in a crock pot on low. You can walk away from it without running the risk of burning your product, as long as you come back and stir it periodically.

I hate using the microwave for melting....I prefer to use a double~boiler set up on the stove top. I slowly melt on medium, stirring periodically until ready to pour!

Many people answered in the microwave, however I melt mine on the stove and it is sooo easy. I don't like the idea of using the microwave, and on the stovetop I can monitor the melting point of the soap.

I put the soap in a Pyrex measuring get cup and place the measuring cup in a pan of water on the stove, as you would a double boiler. this works great, it's very easy to work with and pour.I don't like to use the microwave for melting my products.

Hello, WSP's soaps bases are detergent free meaning that they are free from sulfates and parabens. As far as soap bases go I would say that it is natural because it is detergent free but it is not all natural. However in labeling your product when using this base I would just state that it is "free from harmful detergents or free from sulfates and parabens". I hope this helps. Thank You For Your Question

While not wholly natural, the Detergent-Free soap bases are considered soap by the FDA and are regulated by the CPSC.

"All Natural" is a marketing term. There are no regulations governing use of the word "natural". By the strictest definition ("can all these ingredients be found lying around in nature?"), no soap on the market can be considered natural.

No. In order to make soap remeltable and still keep its clarity and consistency it has chemicals added to it. Also remember that in order to make it soap it once had lye(sodium hydroxide) in it and lye isn't natural. Remember "no lye=no soap". Wsp does try to make it as natural as possible but you can't have natural soap.

"Not the best of Crafter's Choice"

COMMENTS: I really wanted to love this M&P Buttermilk soap, but it just is below average. Even after letting it sit once poured in a rectangular mold after 48 hours it is still so soft you can almost bend it like rubber. Sure it feels wonderful on your skin, but with this soap being so very soft I don't believe customers are going to like it. First I poured it by itself, results soft after 48 hours, then I did 1/2 buttermilk and 1/2 goat milk, and the bar was still so soft after 48 hours. I just don't get it, all the other CS soaps are superior that I have tried, but this is just a real disappointment.

COMMENTS: Not sure what everyone is so in love about. This soap feels like commercial soap but harsher. It strips my skin and makes my palms/fingers peel as if i've washed my hands 10 times in an hour. Bought this from the butterfly mp kit so my baby sister can participate 100% with me in soap making but I would rather her not ever touch the soap for any reason, or anyone in that matter.

"My new favorite!"

COMMENTS: I was so impressed when I made my first soap using the baby buttermilk. I have very dry skin and many types of M&P still leave my skin feeling overly dry after use. This one does not! My hands feel so soft and silky after washing them with this base. It feels great, it smells great, and the color is a nice milky white. I will be using this soap from now on. "Baby Buttermilk Soap Bunnies"

COMMENTS: I usually use melt & pour for embeds only, but I wanted to make soap bunnies for Easter and didn't want to take a chance on CP, so I decided to try this base. I am so glad I did. It is tons better than the brands I have used in the past. It is smooth and creamy, and it melts quickly and evenly, which reduces the chance of burning your soap -- a definite plus! It remains fluid at relatively cool temps, and, overall, I find that it is a pleasure and a breeze to work with this base. In the future, when I have another melt & pour project I want to try, I will certainly purchase this again.

COMMENTS: I bought a small 2 pound tray to try this DF Baby Buttermilk and see if we liked it. I will definitely be ordering a larger amount next time. This is so easy to use at lower temps, nice smooth, moisturizing soap base. We have extremely board well water but this base was still able to give us nice creamy bubbles. Highly recommend!

COMMENTS: I love this one. Buttermilk goes great with the spa salts. It also works great mixed with the charcoal soaps. This one is a softer soap than the 3 butters melt and pour. It works better if you mix the buttermilk base with the three butters or one of the white soap bases. this makes for a harder bar and still gives off the benefit of the buttermilk. I love this one. the name draws attention the customers too. this does not give the odor of buttermilk. no worries there.

COMMENTS: All of the WSP melt & pour soaps I have tried so far are excellent, BUT... this one, (along with the clear for colored embeds) is my favorite. Family, friends and I love the combination of buttermilk, oatmeal, calendula extract and real honey. It is detergent free, pure white, has creamy lather and great ingredients for the skin! I will definitely be purchasing more in my next order. Also love the 2 pound tray size. The trays are so convenient and I can try the different soaps without "breaking the bank."

"Creamy, easy to work with base!"

COMMENTS: This is my go to base for baby shower themed soaps. I love the creaminess of this base and how easy it is to chop. Melts quick yet doesn't set up as quick as some MP bases I have used, so plenty of time to use it for multiple intricate mold detail filling using a syringe. I have seen others review it as a no sweat soap, but this last batch did sweat a small bit. You also have to watch for some orange spotting in the base, but easily removed. I can easily overlook those two things, though, since this is a great base.

"Creamy"

COMMENTS: I used this to make melt & pour soap loaf.. I scented it in Love Spell, and added a layer of Glycerin soap on top. The buttermilk layer was very creamy and smooth, it held the fragrance well and no discoloration. There were no issues with melting it using the boiler method, I had time to add my fragrance before it set up and was able to let it cool some so that it didn't melt my embeds. Very satisfied!

"Love this gentle soap!"

COMMENTS: I have a very high sensitivity to skin irritants. Most soaps are too strong for me and so I was very curious about this soap and ordered it mainly for my own personal use. I was afraid that I would be dissatisfied with the foaming / bubbling action of this soap but I found I really enjoy the soft creamy suds on my skin. I also like that I do not feel any residue after rinsing. Time will tell if any drying effects but not noticed after a weeks use and I love it! I also find this soap easy to work with in the projects I have used it in thus far.

"Great Melt & Pour for Pet Shampoo Bar"

COMMENTS: I love this soap! I got it as part of the Pet Shampoo bars kit, and wish I had ordered extra. It has a wonderfully silky texture and stays melted for a long time. This gave me plenty of time to work ingredients into it. I also liked the smell. It wasn't overly soapy to me. Usually, I am not a huge fan of melt and pour soaps, because I find them sticky. This seems to be less sticky than other ones. This would be a good base to have on hand for a variety of projects. I plan to buy more and make more pet shampoo bars, as well as soaps for sensitive skins. It takes color and scent well, too. A new favorite!

"Baby Buttermilk is the Best! "

COMMENTS: I just wanted to say how wonderful the Detergent Free Baby Buttermilk base is because it is the ONLY soap other than a Dove bar for sensitive skin, which is NOT detergent free btw, that my husband who has had extreme eczema for all his life, can use! I also have a customer who says she doesn't have to put lotion on herself after she showers because the soap is so softening to her skin! I absolutley love it for the skin softening properties and the yummy subtle milky fragrance. I make primarily children's soaps and I feel so very confident in letting mom's know how wonderful this soap is for kids...my 2 year old grandsons have been using it for months now too! Highly recommend!

COMMENTS: I received this as part of a kit for pet shampoo. Dogs and their owners love it. I love the fact it is detergent-free, especially since so many of my customers have skin issues. I ordered another 2 pound tray, but first thing this morning, I also ordered a 10 pound carton!

COMMENTS: So easy to use! The Detergent Free M&P bases from WSP are by far THE BEST I've ever used. The bases I tried from other suppliers would develop a skin almost immediately after melting, no matter how I melted them. I've never had this happen with any base bought from WSP! This DF Baby Buttermilk base melts quickly and stays smooth & creamy while I stir in my color, fragrance, and other additives. My finished bars hold their scent & lather beautifully. This base performs much like some of my CP recipes: 1. the bars continue to harden up after unmolding 2. glycerin sweat beads don't plague my unwrapped bars. Will continue to buy this base! "A permanent favorite "

COMMENTS: This is my first time using this product and it is now one of my favorites. I used this for my first time attempt at making multicolored soap. "slippery soap"

COMMENTS: I made this soap for my 3 yr old grandson and when he stays the weekend with me at bathtime the bar of soap is so slippery I can't hold it long enough to use it, I have made cp soap for years and have used m&p soap as well, This soap had really good reviews and no one else had this complaint when using the soap. It is just too shiney and slippery for me to buy again, I've never had a soap this slick
