Product Details

French White Shimmer Mica Powder is a cosmetic powder that reminds us of a sparkling chandelier hanging from the ceiling of a French cathedral. The sparkling powder combined with our Heavenly* Fragrance Oil makes stunning melt and pour soaps.

The pictured lotus blossom is clear melt and pour soap colored at a rate of 1 tsp. per pound of soap.

"Which liquids are safe to store this mica powder in without "melting" the mica? Liquid oils like Avocado Oil or Castor Oil? Would rubbing alcohol be safe, or would the alcohol dissolve the mica over time? Would water with or without some type of preservative be OK? "

It is necessary for my lungs. I do not want to inhale mica anymore while working with it. I have added rubbing alcohol to mica in the past and dripped it on top of the soap instead of sprinkling, and it looked fine. I'm just not sure if the mica will hold up if stored in rubbing alcohol long term and whether there is a better liquid for that.

Staff Answer You might try mixing the micas with a small amount of carrier oil. Any oil would do but we recommend one with a long shelf life such as castor oil, MCT or fractionated coconut oil, coconut 76, olive or palm oil. You might want to experiment with a few different ones along with the alcohol to see which one makes a better base.

COMMENTS: Using it alone in Cold Process I didn’t get the white white I was wanting. The time I used it I added a tad of titanium dioxide and I got great results. Depends on if you want a bright white or a creamy sparkling white on how to use it. I do really really love the sparkles all in it!

COMMENTS: This is perfect for a shimmery, sparkly, glossy look on top of the soap. It adds a luxurious look to the soap. There is a nice amount of the product in 2 ounce jar. Will be using this ALOT!
