Crafter's Choice™ Green Tea Extract - Water Soluble

International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI):
Glycerin (and) Water (and) Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract (and) Sodium Benzoate (and) Potassium Sorbate

Directions:

DIRECTIONS: Slowly stir desired amount of liquid into formula and mix well. Typically used at 0.5% to 5% in formulas.

TIPS: This product provides rich attributions to formulations such as lotions, shampoos and soap. Test your final product to ensure optimal performance.

STORAGE: Store in an airtight, cool, dark location. When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase.

Staff Answer These are water soluble, so it technically would need a solubolizer. We have found that when using a very small amount around 1%, it seems to stay incorporated without the use of a solubolizer.

"Can I add the green tea extract to the MP detergent free goat milk soap base? If so, how much should I put into a 2 pound soap base? Also, do I need a preservative if I add the extract to the soap base?"

Staff Answer Yes, you can add this extract to MP Soap. We recommend adding 0.5% to 2% in MP soap. This will not require an additional preservative.

Staff Answer Adding a small amount of Green Tea Extract to a body butter should mix in without needing Poly 80. You would need to test this, though, to be sure it blends well into the butter. If you think this product will be used after a shower and possibly have water contamination, we would recommend using a preservative.

Staff Answer It should not even though the color of the liquid is golden. You should not be using enough that it would cause your soap to discolor.

Staff Answer This can be added to MP soap. The total additives recommended for soap is 6%. This would include fragrance so if you add the normal 3% fragrance, you can add up to 3% of the extract.
