"The description says this can be used in lip balms and there is also a lip scrub recipe here using it, but then in the question section someone asked if it can be used in lip balm and the answer was "no". Someone else also asked and the answer was that you don't know, but they can certainly try it - which is it? Can it be used successfully in lip balm? I'm confused:) Thank you!"

Staff Answer In general, we recommend adding more preservative to Foaming Bath Whip recipes if the end product will be regularly exposed to water, i.e. scooped out of a jar in the shower. Preservative - Water Soluble PF works very well in most Foaming Bath Whip recipes. You would not need to use a preservative for a product made with only oils, butters, and powder unless the product might be exposed to water; an antioxidant like Vitamin E T-50 would be most appropriate. If the product will be exposed to water, we recommend Preservative – Phenoxyethanol + CG.

Staff Answer This can be used in MP soap but it does have a tendency to clump. We recommend mixing the honey powder into a small amount of the hot melted soap first, then incorporating into to rest of the melted soap.

Staff Answer You can add either raw honey or the honey powder. Honey powder will just need mixed with a small amount of oil or glycerin to help incorporate. Too much honey can cause a soft bar. We recommend 1/2 teaspoon per pound of base, so for 4 oz you would only need 1/8 teaspoon.

Staff Answer You can use both of these together, yes. Honey Powder, stabilizers, and preservatives all have different functions and their own purpose in formulas. A preservative will not help the discolorations that is caused by fragrances. Unfortunately there are no options to replace the stabilizers.

Too much Honey Powder may cause your product to become sticky. You would only need a preservative if your formulation incorporated water.

Staff Answer You can add the honey powder once the soap has melted. We recommend mixing with a small amount of melted soap to make a paste. Then add to the larger amount. This will help eliminate clumping. This can be added to an oil based product without needing a preservative.

"I used this in the Chocolate Orange lip balm in which I use the method of melting my lip balm like a double boiler in a fondue pot; the honey clumped each time I tried to add it. What could have caused the clumping? It was very hard almost like crystallized."

Staff Answer You can add this to cp soap but do it carefully. Anytime you add sugar to cp soap you risk the batch overheating. I would start very small and add at trace. Be prepared for the soap to move quickly then.
