Directions:
Add .5% fragrance (0.5% = 1/2 teaspoon per 16 ounces of base). Add cosmetic liquid color dye as desired. Pour into bottles. Each fragrance reacts differently in the base. Test your formula to ensure the desired results.

"I am looking for a base to make a hair regrowth serum/spray that is NOT oil based so it can be used without washing out. I thought maybe this would be a good one but from my research propylene-glycol is not good for hair or scalp. Do you have another base or recipe I could use as a base to add EO or water based extracts to for this purpose that do NOT contain propylene-glycol?"

Staff Answer Our recommendation would be to try our Hair Conditioner Base. The ingredient Propylene Glycol is not contained in this base. For promoting hair growth, you can try to incorporate coconut or castor oil as they are thought to promote hair growth.

"Hello, if I mix this with equal parts of Coconut Lime Verbena* - EO & FO Blend 92, will I need to add any other ingredients to ensure they mix well? I am not concerned with cloudiness, as it will be stored in an opaque container. That fragrance oil says it can be used up to 63% for perfume, so hopefully I can mix it with equal parts of this product? Thank you."

Staff Answer When we claim something is "alcohol free", we mean that a product does not contain methanol or ethanol. This is what consumers tend to associate alcohol with. You are correct - propylene glycol does contain alcohol groups in its chemical formula.

"Is it possible that each recipe that is suggested can be used as a facial spray/body splash/ room spray/ and body spritz? Because each recipe is about the same, the only difference is a vanilla stabilizer or possible colorants use and the use of FO or EO? Staff Answer These bases are very similar and work well as both a body mist or a linen spray. The main difference is the Lux Moisturizing Mist does not need added FO/EO Modifier unless you find a stubborn fragrance that separates. The Body Splash will need a modifier if adding fragrance.

Staff Answer We would recommend using the FO & EO Modifier along with the fragrance oil to keep the product from separating. This will also keep the end product clear. The directions for use are to mix 4 parts of the modifier with 1 part fragrance. Mix together then add the normal amount of fragrance that you add. Do not add the entire new mixture as it will be too much liquid.

Staff Answer You will need to make a test batch to see how this product will work. You do need to mix the essential oil and menthol crystals with a solubilizer so they do not separate in the base. We would also recommend adding a note for consumers to wash hands after using. Getting this into the eyes would absolutely sting!

Staff Answer It is not necessary to package in colored bottles. You do need to mix the essential oil with either polysorbate 20 or the FO & EO Modifier to keep the essential oil blended with the water based product.

Staff Answer This is something you will need to test. Menthol crystals do not dissolve in water products, only oils or alcohol based products. If adding the menthol, be sure to keep away from the face. You might consider Peppermint Essential Oil instead.

Staff Answer Heating isn’t necessary but it can help incorporate the fragrance easier. You can mix the fragrance with vanilla stabilizer then add the EO/FO modifier. We would not recommend adding a surfactant as this will cause the product to bubble. It may be your fragrance that is causing the mist to thicken and cloud. Each fragrance can be different. Try warming the product to see if it clears up.

"I'm having difficulty with this base. I've followed directions explicitly and use the FO/MO . Everything comes together perfectly, but after the first few days and several sprays the formula thickens up and clogs the nozzle. Staff Answer The recommended usage rate for fragrance or essential oils is a maximum of 2%. Even if a fragrance oil is safe at 100% in a product, adding 70% to this base is not recommended. This would make it a very oily product and not a good balance of fragrance to perfume base.

"So I just got this and made my first spray, I notice the scent isn't very strong but I followed the instructions. Also when I spray it, no matter where I spray it (even if it's away from my face) I can taste it and boy does it taste bad!!! I even tried some of the body splash base also to see which I liked better but I notice the same thing!! And chance I can fix this or maybe need to add something?!"

Staff Answer The maximum recommended amount of fragrance is 2%. You may want to try a stronger fragrance oil. If using a softer fragrance, it will not seem very strong. As far as tasting the spray, we just recommend keeping away from the face.

Staff Answer You can double the amount of fragrance which would be 2%. Once mixed with the modifier, only add 2% of your modified fragrance, not the entire amount. So, mix 2.5 ml FO with 10 ml modifier. Then add 2.5 mls of that modified fragrance. The mist may feel slightly sticky but quickly dries to a powdery feel.

Staff Answer Directions for the FO/EO Modifier are 4 parts modifier to 1 part fragrance. You have then created a new fragrance mixture and would take your 1%, or whatever the percentage being added, from this new mixture. The 8 ml frosted bottles should work fine with this product and adding color is your own preference, but we would recommend a very small amount should it get sprayed onto clothing.

Staff Answer The because of the weight of the mica in relation to the luxury moisturizing mist, the mica will fall to the bottom. It is perfectly safe, and okay, to add "Shake Well Before Use" to your product label. If you prefer, you may omit the mica altogether but why? It is so pretty! Unfortunately, there is nothing to add that will keep the mica suspended.

We have not tested a 50/50 solution using these two products so I cannot say with any certainty whether or not it will work. You will need to test your finished product for quality and safety.

Staff Answer If you follow the maximum fragrance allowance on the product then it should mix in and not separate. The product details state that you can add 1/2-2% Fragrance Oil. The amount may vary with different FOs so you should test it with the specific FO that you wish to use.

The fragrance should hold but I recommend testing doing a test batch to see how the fragrance (that you are planning on using) will react over a period of time.

I've tried this with a number of different FOs and have never had a problem with the fragrance fading. I agree with the other post - try a small test batch and check it over time before making a big batch.

While it's not long-lasting as perfume, I sell this as a Body Mist. Most people expect a lighter, less lingering effect with body mists.

Staff Answer The Luxury Moisturizing Mist II is not all natural and nor do we claim it to be. It is paraben free however, which a lot of our customers like. The ingredients need to be listed as such on your product.

"I have this product and tried mixing some fragrance oils into it but I keep getting a cloudy result that does not clear up. One perfume got less cloudy than others but has a foamy layer on the surface that when shaken makes the whole thing cloudy like the others. Am I doing something wrong?"

Staff Answer It sounds like it may be the fragrance clouding. According to the directions that are posted on the site the percentage that should be used is Maximum of .5 to 2%. Each fragrance reacts differently in the base so it may not mix in well at 2%. I would recommend to use Crafters Choice™ FO & EO Modifier if the Fragrance is not mixing at the maximum level.

Staff Answer Hello Christal, This base should mix easily with your fragrance. You may want to let the product rest for 30 min or so to see if there is any separation. As long as there is no separation you can use the product immediately. Thank you for your question.

Staff Answer They are two similar but different formulas. The Crafter's Choice Bath Splash allows for a higher fragrance percentage. The Luxury Moisturizing Mist has a more silky after feel.
