COMMENTS: I horribly assumed this was an EO. I have been making a Bergamot/Black Pepper blend for over 10 years. The only difference is this Black Pepper. It immediately seized when added.
My bad. I lost 16 pounds of soap because I assumed it was an EO.

"deep and subtle"
COMMENTS: A lot of people review fragrance oils based on how well they perform in different applications (CP soap vs bath fizzes vs lotions, etc), so I will review the scent itself. :)
In this bottle, this fragrance oil smells 'chewy;' it is thick and deep, and the black pepper smell is unmistakable - with no hint of an on-coming sneeze! As it dries it does sadly fade quite a lot, but in the end it is still a very deep, albeit subtle scent, with hints of clove and a just-so-slightly sweet quality.
This seems quite a bit too subtle for me to use on its own, but people who do not like strong scents would love it as-is. I mixed this oil with some others to make a great custom scent, so I'm very happy with it. :)

"Obsessed!"
COMMENTS: I am obsessed with this oil!! A lot of the reviews say that it fades a bit when in product, and that's true, but that's what makes it amazing. I poured a batch of candles made with just this oil when I first got it and sure enough, they smell like cracked black pepper, but it's not overpowering (though I'm not sure that anyone would want a strong straight black pepper candle anyway) Where it absolutely SHINES is as a mixer to add a note of spice in a blend! I've added it into three of my mixes and I'm not stopping. I love it with Chai blends because most of them are way sweeter and creamier than I want, but adding a bit of this black pepper kicks the spice back up to where I want it to be! I've added it to two woodsy blends to bring an interesting spice note. I find I'm happiest when I swap this in for cinnamon. I love this oil and it has quickly become a staple in my cabinet!

"to be honest"
COMMENTS: Maybe I'm the only one but I was just really disappointed in this fragrance. I move a lot of soaps but this one stays on the shelf - no one is buying it. I've jazzed up this particular soap even - swirled with activated charcoal and turmeric - topped with peppercorns and gave it a great name. People grab it because it's so dang cool looking but then put it back after they take a whiff. I caved to all the great reviews on the black pepper scents but won't be making more of this one. It could be just this particular scent though - maybe the other one WSP sells has better tones to it? Don't know, I've only ever tried this one. It also does fade in CP soap and accelerates. I love WSP fragrances and tried hard to like this one. But won't buy it again.

"Like it"
COMMENTS: I would like it to have more pepper smell, but overall this is a good fragrance!
COMMENTS: To be honest, I love this fragrance out of the bottle. the only issue I have is that it's so light while in the product, it fades. I was hoping for a bit more potency. Other than that, it's true to scent and I made what I think will be my next best seller with it.

"nice and spicy"
COMMENTS: This scent is much spicier then the regular black pepper, makes it a bit less perfume like, a better scent in my opinion. a top selling Mans scent for us.
COMMENTS: Out of the bottle, this fragrance has the exact aroma you would get opening a tin of black pepper. In massage oil, it gave me the spicy, peppery note without that slight bitterness (which I happen to like) that occurs naturally in a black pepper scent. However, when used in cold process soap, the scent was faint after curing. I still like it, but I could do with it being a little more powerful. Having said that, black pepper is generally used as an accent in cooking rather than the star of a the dish, so it stands to reason the same would be true for the scent.

"It was okay, accelerated a little. "
COMMENTS: From other reviews of the scent fading I increased usage rate to something little over 1 oz ppo. The IFRA sheet provided in the details seems to indicate that this fragrance has a much higher usage rate than others, however the IFRA stuff is kind of a mystery to me so I have no way to fact check the sheet Crafter's Choice provides. It still fades, a lot, but does not totally disappear over cure time. What it might do over the next few months I couldn't say yet.
As for the acceleration, I got a little one track minded and was only thinking about the consistency I wanted to soap at, and not about how the FO would react. So I did soap around 110 degrees, and I did get it to a medium trace before adding the Madagascar Black Pepper. It didn't seize, but got too thick to pour in less than a minute. Soaping at a lower temp and lighter trace will probably do the trick for me next time.

"Good fragrance "
COMMENTS: This holds well in M&P,but I'm with the others, it did fade in CP,but works well in other product,so it has to get the 5 starts cause other products I made the fragrance with sells and it's now a staple in my shop
COMMENTS: This oil has an interesting smell. It smells like pepper but not over powering. Mixed with some bay rum makes a wonderful manly scent for cold process soap.
