Product Details

Palm Kernel Flakes is an oil in a solid flake form. Commonly used up to 15% in cold and hot process soap making recipes because it boosts lather. Palm Kernel Flakes typically speed up trace in CP Soap. Use this oil in wax tarts and wickless candles, too!

Cold & Hot Process Soap.

Points of Interest:
Palm oil is a form of vegetable oil obtained from the fruit of the Oil palm tree. Each fruit contains a single seed (the palm kernel) surrounded by a soft oily pulp. Oil is extracted from both the pulp of the fruit (palm oil) and the kernel (palm kernel oil). Popular in cold and hot process soap making because it boosts lather. All Natural.

Yes you can. Palm kernel oil and palm kernel flakes are the same thing. The flakes are hydrogenated oil, which makes them easier to work with. Palm kernel oil can be extremely hard to cut.

Yes, you can. In fact, they have the same SAP value, so you can make a straight swap without adjusting the formulation. A couple points of interest, though. While they are nearly the same, there are some SLIGHT differences. Regular PKO is more conditioning than flakes, while the flakes make for a harder bar and better lather. Also, if you want a entirely natural and/or organic soap, since flakes are hydrogenated they are a no-go: you will need to use regular PKO.

COMMENTS: The palm kernel flakes were easy to pour with little to no mess and they help produce a hard and light colored bar of soap. COMMENTS: First off let me tell you that you won't be disappointed with these flakes! I was a bit apprehensive about using the flakes - but let me reassure you that these are clean, no dust, easy to pour from bag, and easy to measure. I've made tons of CP soap with these, and you can really tell the difference! It helps make the batter creamy, smooth and lets me achieve a great dancing-funnel pattern! COMMENTS: I've used this product in soaps where I need to use a lot of olive oil or other soft oils. These palm kernel flakes help to harden the bars. Very happy with it! I've found it helpful to melt the palm kernel flakes first, because they have a higher melting point than most other oils I use. You'll definitely want to incorporate your lye water at a temp above 102 degrees, but that's the temp I like most.

COMMENTS: I love using this in my CP soaps. This helps to make your soaps harder and ups the lather too. The zip pouch its packed in works perfectly. I will always add this in all my soaps.

"Flakes are easy to use and work well in CP soaps"

COMMENTS: The flakes are easy to measure and works as a great coconut oil alternative in cold process soaps. The flakes do tend to cause the soap to trace faster, but still a good addition to any soap recipe.

"Great Oil"

COMMENTS: I use this in cold process soap in place of coconut oil, for people who are allergic to coconut. Wonderful result. My only problem was that the flakes weren't flakes after sitting on my front porch when UPS dropped it off in the middle of Arizona summer heat. The bag still made it easy to use.

COMMENTS: I have used this in several batches of soap now both CP and open and it works great. Easy to measure and melts very fast. Like the resealable bag. Have had no problems with this product in any thing I have used it in.

COMMENTS: I love it. I used it in lieu in my hard oil and it worked great. This is my first using it, and I was afraid to use it, but I love the added bubbles it gave to my soap. I love it. Wow
