"What temp is considered "over heating"? And what harm does that cause? Also, do I need to use mica powders or are dyes/colorants okay to use?"

Staff Answer The melting point of this base is 122º F. Heating the base more than 30ºF above melting point may cause the soap to dehydrate and become prone to bloom. Heating the base more than 50ºF above melting point may cause the soap to become brittle, reduce lather, and turn yellow. Staff Answer You can use any soap base in place of another. If you are looking at a specific recipe that contains the Extra Clear soap, the color will be different if using the Goat Milk soap.

Staff Answer Hi Deana,

No this product is not considered 'tear free'. The pH levels for this product are 9.0-9.8 (this pH is required for dirt removal & rinsability) whereas the eye maintains pH levels of between 7 - 7.3.

"Hello, I want to try making a sugar or salt scrub using the foaming whip & I was wondering if I can use the liquid suspension base in the place of this m&p soap? What effect would it have on the foaming whip?"

Staff Answer Hi Amber - The resulting scrub will not be the same with liquid suspension soap base being substituted for melt & pour soap base. We wouldn’t recommend a straight substitution unless you are trying for a completely different product. The melt and pour soap with the foaming bath whip creates a harder soap scrub that is spreadable. If you swapped out the melt and pour soap for liquid suspension soap it would likely be very runny and potentially may not incorporate well with the foaming bath whip.

"What is a sure fire way to get layers in a silicone loaf pan to stick. I spray alcohol between for bubbles and adhesion. Should layer be hard or semi hard. Thanks in advance. I'm attempting my first loaf and really want it to work. I've attempted small ones in Tupperware, some stuck and some didn't. "

Staff Answer You need to allow your first layer to harden completely. Then, just before you pour your next layer, spray the first layer with alcohol to completely cover the soap. The wet alcohol is what helps the layers adhere to eachother. If the alcohol has evaporated before you pour your next layer they will not stick together.

"I want to use M& P embeds in my CP soap. Can I list the ingredients for the main 'soap' first then the 'embeds' or does it have to be in one long list? How do I figure out where to list everything if it has to be if it is in a long list?"

I believe you have to list it in order like you would anything else. If you are not making claims other than this being soap you do not have to list the ingredients but I find that my soaps sell better if I do. You would have to email wsp to help with your ingredient label since they do not state the amounts of each ingredient. Depending on how you package your soaps, I find a soap band works well. Hope this helps!

"What are the percents of the ingredients in your soap? As I want to add more oils to your base soap but in order to label correctly I need to know percentages that are in the base. Say your base already has palm oil, but I add 3 more ounces of palm oil, now I need to know where palm oil ranks in the ingredients in order to label correctly. "

If you are melting using a water bath, sure... but make sure that you use a thermometer (laser ones are great) regardless what way you melt your base. We do ours in the microwave on a low setting to make sure not to overheat the product.

There are techniques with additives, but the problems the additives cause are usually worse than the possible soap cloudiness. The clearer the fragrance oil, the better. Slowly stir in the fragrance oil, but make sure it's thoroughly mixed. Not being completely incorporated is a big cause of cloudiness.

If the embed has a LOT of detail (like small text), the crystal clear is the best. The detergent free clear has the least clarity with a slightly yellowish tint.

Staff Answer All three of these bases are very clear. The Crystal Clear has no tint which makes it ideal for embeds that have print you want your customers to read through the soap. If you are making colored embeds for loaves and bars, the extra clear is perfect.

I have tried all of them, and the Crystal Clear is the absolute most clear with no tint to it at all. If you need the extra clarity it is well worth it! But, unless your embed is extremely detailed (or has small text on an embed paper) the extra clear is fine.

Crystal Clear is a bit clearer than Extra Clear , so if you are going for that use Crystal Clear ! :D
