"dealing with extreme sweating! what are some ways to dry out the mp soap - whether it be adding something while making or something after unmolding it? even after shrink wrapped, dew gets on it and makes it look horrible :( wish you guys sold no sweat - i hate having to buy out of state !"

Staff Answer After wrapping, you could try a few things to reduce sweating. You can keep your finished soaps in an airtight container or use a humidifier in your storage room, especially if you are in a humid climate.

"I got this soap and couldn't unmold it from the container it came in. I had to cut it up in the 2# container. Then I had to PRY the little soap squares out. It was very sticky and rubbery. I melted it and then couldn't get it unmolded. I finally pried this out, but the soap was extremely "bendy" and rubbery and sticky to the touch. Please tell me what to do. This has never happened to me before. ( It used to plop out of the container with a little pressure.) Thank you, mashelle"

Staff Answer You can add stearic acid to the soap to make a harder bar. The recommended amount is 1 tablespoon per pound of soap. This may cloud your Crystal Clear soap base, though.

Staff Answer Fragrance can cloud the crystal clear soap. If using along with embed paper, we recommend not adding fragrance to the clear soap. Fragrance can be added to the soap that is poured behind the paper. The only way to know whether a fragrance will cloud is to test it. A fragrance with vanilla is more likely to cloud than ones without but you may still find a fragrance that clouds and does not contain vanilla. Also, try not to place soap in refrigerator. This will also cause the soap to become cloudy

"I have used this with the embed paper with no problem and did not add fragrance. Now I want to embed white MP shapes in it. How much fragrance can I use in 2lbs with no clouding. Also is it best not to avoid fragrance with vanilla, even with stabilizer?"

Staff Answer You will need to test each fragrance you are using in the crystal clear soap base to see if it clouds. Fragrances containing vanilla do tend to cloud more than ones not containing it but there still may be other ingredients that can cloud the soap. Using a stabilizer can also cloud the soap. You may want to just fragrance your embeds and leave the clear soap fragrance-free.

Staff Answer The soap actually gets foamy, it does not get whipped and creamy. For a foam topping to your soap, simply use a hand mixer and whip some melted soap until it gets light and foamy. Staff Answer You would need to look at the ingredients for each individual soap to know if it is vegan. Our goats milk, honey and shave & shampoo bases would not be considered vegan. The Premium Crystal Clear has the best clarity if embedding a toy or using embed paper. The detergent free has a more cloudy look to the soap.

"Any time I add FO to this base it turns cloudy even if the fragrance oil is clear. Is there another product I need to add to keep the soap clear? Or do they all need to be unscented? I want to make clear embed soap but I'm not having much luck. I purchase the 24lb blocks, cut it up, and store about 5 lbs in airtight containers. All the other soap bases I have do fine, but this one grew crystals (feels like salt when rubbed). Any idea what happened?"

Staff Answer If you are using a fragrance containing vanilla, that might be why it is clouding. Also, make sure you are not over-fragrancing which could cause cloudiness. The crystals you are referring to sound like glycerin dew which happens when the soap is not properly stored. Be sure your containers are airtight and stored away from any moisture or humidity.

Staff Answer Most likely your CP soap temperature rose too high during the gel phase and melted the embeds inside your loaf. To prevent this you may want to place your loaf directly in the refrigerator to prevent gelling and to keep the temperature from rising. "I purchased 24 pounds of this soap after reading the q&a's and the reviews to use for soap with embeds. Yesterdays I started work on some eraser embedded soaps for my grandsons classroom. I melted slow and did not add any fragrance just a touch of glitter. The soaps all came out cloudy. You can barely see the erasers. Is there something different I should be doing? I know fragrance and overheating can do this but I am melting slow and stirring until the last bit of soap is melted."

We are sorry to hear that your product did not turn out. This soap base is what we would typically recommend for your product. We have never ran into this particular issue but one possibility is that the powder on the erasers bled into the product causing it to cloud. Also, you may want to try pouring 3/4 of the soap into the mold, allow it to harden, spritz with alcohol and then add in the erasers with the top layer of soap. We hope one of these options work for you!

it could be the amount of dye or fragrance you're adding. also if you are mixing liquid glycerin with any of the powdered dyes that will make a difference in the feel of the finished soap. try adding a bit less of your fragrance and dye and also it would help to cover the soaps right after you unmold them. hope that helps!

Staff Answer The ripple effect typically occurs when the mold is disturbed after the initial pour. To avoid this place your mold on a cookie sheet to provide stability should you have to move your soap. Place the cookie sheet in a spot where it will not be disturbed during the cure. from what i have tried, this base is the best for when you need a totally clear finished soap, like with the "fish in a dish" soaps. it also helps to use a totally clear FO as well since they can greatly affect the finished color.

To combine M&P with CP soap, you would need to let the M&P part set up before pouring CP over it, otherwise the CP will break through and not give you the design you are looking for. The best way to combine the two is to use the M&P more like an embed.

Staff Answer All three of these bases are very clear. The Crystal Clear has no tint which makes it ideal for embeds that have print you want your customers to read through the soap. If you are making colored embeds for loaves and bars, the extra clear is perfect.

I have tried all of them, and the Crystal Clear is the absolute most clear with no tint to it at all. If you need the extra clarity it is well worth it! But, unless your embed is extremely detailed (or has small text on an embed paper) the extra clear is fine.
