Staff Answer You can use this in either, but it may stain the skin. It is more likely to stain the skin or clothing when in a leave on product such as a lotion.

"Does this powder stain when used in soap? I made some soap before with tumeric powder before and I didn’t have good results. It lathered yellow and it stained towels. How can I fix that? "

Staff Answer Turmeric can stain when used in soap. Using less may help eliminate this problem, but it does naturally tend to stain light surfaces even in small amount.

Staff Answer We recommend adding 1-3tsp of turmeric powder to a small amount of glycerin and mixing completely. Them it can be added to melted MP soap.

"Does this product carry a strong smell? Turmeric has a distinct scent (that I don't mind) but I don't want it to overpower the essential oils I use to scent."

Staff Answer The turmeric powder does have a slight odor but we do not consider it to be strong. It should not overpower your essential oils.

"I used 1 Tbsp. of turmeric in a 4 lbs. of cold process soap. It was a beautiful orange color and it was well mixed. upon curing it did fade but still a nice orange. But the bars looked speckled. They look great but should they be speckled? "

Staff Answer Turmeric can speckle in your product because it does not completely dissolve. You can infuse the powder in an oil. This will still give you the color but without the powder settling in your soap.

Staff Answer While some of our products may be food grade our repackaging facility and warehouse do not meet the FDA standards for a food repackaging facility. Since these products are repackaged in the same facility as products that are not safe to ingest there is a high rick of cross contamination. Therefore we do not recommend the use of our products in any food preparation whatsoever.

Staff Answer In CP & HP Soap it is recommended to use 1 - 3% of your base. Because the product can stain your skin when too much is used I would recommend to use this product in no more then 3% of your base. I would start with 1% and test the product first before adding more of the Turmeric Powder.

It’s widely used as a skin exfoliant and improves skin’s texture and It can help with inflammatory skin conditions, such as acne, dry skin, psoriasis and eczema. That being said, use a small amount, it does stain my hands when I put it on, nothing soap and water doesn't take care of, just something you need to be aware of.

Hello, WSP only recommends using this product in cold process or hot process soap at a 1-3% ratio based on your total batch weight. I would not recommend using it in lotion because if you use too much it can stain the skin. Thank you for your question Erin

Staff Answer Some natural colorants may give a grainy feel to lotions and may discolor skin or clothing, so I would suggest not using them in products other than soap.
