Unbelievably bitter, tastes terrible, ruined batch

"I can't believe this is supposed to be a flavor oil. It tastes so bad, there's no way I can sell my product with this 'flavor' in it. No one would ever buy it again! Used it at just a bit under 2% and can't get the chemical flavor out of my mouth, even after brushing my teeth. NASTY!"

Excellent

"Love this as a face scrub! As a licensed esthetician, I recommend using this product once a week to properly exfoliate skin. Orange peel is made of citric acid and from my knowledge, acid can be known to eat away dead skin. So in my opinion, using daily, your skin might become raw and sensitive. I'd only use this once a week."

Q&A

Can bubble up be added for a sudsier lather?
This is something that you will need to test. It would be safe to add Bubble Up, but the consistency may change and additional preservative or thickener may be required.
Can I add sugar to this recipe to make it a Foaming sugar scrub?
This recipe is already an exfoliating scrub, as it includes apricot seed powder. Adding more exfoliant may make it too abrassive for the face.
what can I substitute for the xanthan gum in this recipe??
We do not offer another substitution for this.
I'm assuming the shea butter is added so that the liquid soap isn't drying to the face; however it seems that shea butter is too oily for normal to oily skin. Can I substitute a liquid oil such as sweet almond or sunflower seed or perhaps coconut oil with the same results. Is there another oil you would recommend, (any of those or any other), as I'm formulating this for acne prone skin, or do you believe that this recipe is suitable for oily, acne prone skin as is.
We have not had any reviews stating this recipe is too oily but you can certainly try substituting another oil for the liquid shea. Both Hazelnut and Neem oils have ant-bacterial properties making them great for acne prone skin.
May I substitute Shea Butter - Ultra Refined for Shea Butter - Liquid, Refined in this recipe? Would I get the same result?
Using a different type of Shea Butter would likely make a thicker product. The liquid Shea butter remains soft where the other forms have a harder consistency.
