Cold Process Soap Test Results:

15% coconut 76, 10% shea butter, 5% castor. No water discount.

"The recommended usage in cp soap for this fo is fairly low - and I find it doesn't smell strong enough to last. Why is it so low and can I add more safely to get a stronger scent in my finished product?"

"YOur rootbeer float FO has 17% vanilla, so if I use it in the shower gel, will it turn real dark or just a noticeably darker, will vanilla stabilizer help? and will it cloud the gel at all, if so, what can I add to keep it clear?? "

"Smells like a brand new bottle of "pop""

COMMENTS: I agree with my fellow reviewers, this smells like a fresh bottle of root beer soda! I got this one for request from my little brother. He almost never requests any scents, so how could I say no?. I immediately made some m&p with it. I used detergent free clear and made a "whip" top with detergent free white, (added glycerin). For the white I went with vanilla stabilizer, and the clear, came out a root beer color. However, I think I will use some kind of vanilla or ice cream scent for the top on the next go around.

COMMENTS: Good grief this is just like old time root beer right out of the bottle and everyone loves it. I get a little vanilla so the ice cream comes through. It works beautifully in all of our products and the scents lasts forever. In all body products and soy candles, sells out immediately. Strong so just a little goes a very long way. Can not believe the real root beer scent. Just love this so much.

COMMENTS: Love this fragrance!! Makes me want a float every time I smell it! Holds very well! Even after 3 months the scent is still very strong! Due to the high vanilla content it will cause major discoloring. Using Vanilla Stabilizer should help. Did not accelerate. A huge seller and favorite with my kiddos!

COMMENTS: I received this as a free sample. I was not disappointed. It worked well in cold process soap and the scent lasts. Make sure you read how much you can add to your specific product. I used half of what I would use for most scents because of the recommendation. I was worried that the scent would not come through because of that but, it did.

COMMENTS: Yummy rootbeer float! Rootbeer and vanilla sweetness are both there, but it mostly rootbeer which is perfect. I love it in melt & pour. I didn't use any vanilla color stabilizer in goat milk melt & pour & it discolored to the perfect rootbeer color on it's own. I also tried it in a soy wax candle. The scent smelled great with cold throw, but changed a bit with hot throw. I think others would still like it, but to me something was missing from the scent I loved so much in the soap. Kids for sure would love this, but grown ups will too if only to feel young again when showering!

"Just Like Rootbeer"

COMMENTS: I love this fragrance oil in my rootbeer float soap. It discolors to a very dark brown, so I add a little brown mica to it to make sure it is evenly colored. I reserve some soap for the topping that does not have the fragrance oil added to, just to get a white foamy look. I will be ordering this one again!

COMMENTS: Recently made a batch of soap using this FO and it came out well. I'd read that this FO can discolour the soap somewhat, but I also used cacao powder to make sure that the shade of brown I wanted was achieved. I don't recall noticing any acceleration of trace, and the bars came out lovely. I used 2 ounces to five pounds of oils, and the scent held okay so far. Overall I am pleased with the FO and may order again in the future, depending on how well it sells. :)

"Smells like Root Beer"

COMMENTS: This product has high vanilla content (17%!) so I'm a bit hesitant to trust it, even with the vanilla stabilizer. I haven't had the product long enough to know if the vanilla color stabilizer is effective with it, so I'm being careful with how I use this product. It does smell like Root Beer, although I don't really get the sense of ice cream mixed in.

Thank you for your review! We use the Vanilla Color Stabilizer often and it works well. Remember you need to use a 1:1 ratio since the vanilla is so high. Another suggestion, some customers love the vanilla content on products like this because their soap will naturally color brown and since this is Rootbeer Float - it works! Experiment a little to find what you like regarding using the stabilizer vs. not using it. Either way, it smells great! Enjoy!

COMMENTS: I purchased this fragrance on a whim and am glad I did. I used in a cold process soap, making a Rootbeer Float type of soap (brown base with cream topping). I had some brown base left over and made just a straight bar with that. Although it is still newly unmolded and curing (currently at 1 week), the scent is true and strong (I scented at a 2.8% rate) I had friends smell both bars. They said they thought the scent could be used as a children's scent (named Rootbeer Float)or a more adult scent (named Sarsaparilla). I think the coloring of soap made a difference in their feeling as they thought the solid brown bar smelled just a little bit "spicier" and not as "sweet" as the float looking colored bar. They liked both and thought it to be a fun/unique soap.

COMMENTS: This is one of my best sellers in every medium I've used it in. I add a bit more buttercream FO to make it really recognizable as a rootbeer float, since the straight FO is more of a regular, yet really good, root beer. Some root beers have a stronger licorice scent to them, but this one is absolutely perfectly balanced in my, and my customers', opinion. It scents the skin wonderfully when used in lotion, too, so my customers often comment about how great it is to take a sniff of their hand when they need a little pick-me-up. I hope this FO remains available permanently.

I was definitely on the fence about it because I couldn't imagine too many requests for a root beer scented soap, and root beer is a VERY tough scent to nail down because it can vary drastically in the scent profile, depending on brand. I was very happy with this root beer scent though - it is well balanced, not overpowering, and doesn't have any strange notes that stand out. We made it into a clear brown glycerin soap with a while goat milk drizzle on top, and now we can't keep it in stock in the summer! Definitely a winner.

COMMENTS: I used this fragrance oil in both bath fizzes and cp soap. Very nice smell, turns the soap a nice brown just like a rootbeer float. Will be ordering many more bottles of this one! It has been a big hit among my customers!
