Great Additive

"Use this in CP soaps as an exfoliant. I use about 1 tbsp per pound of soap mixture as a base amount, have done more since I like the feel of a scrubby soap. Does not change the appearance of your design much."

Armando (5/5)

Great for a scrubby soap

"I added 2 tbsp of shell to 40 oz of cold process soap. It made a really great exfoliating bar. It's pretty fine ground so it didn't sink to the bottom"

"I use this in one of my top selling soaps. Great for exfoliation!"

My favorite exfoliant

"I've tried many exfoliant additives and I like this the best. Used in an oil based face scrub it works fantastic. I've tried pumice and apricot seed in cold process soaps and found the walnut shells to be superior."

How much can be added to MP soap base?
We recommend starting a 1 oz per 1lb of soap. If you would like more exfoliating properties, you can test more until you reach your desired consistency
How much would you add per pound of MP soap?
It depends if you're making super exfolitating bars. We recommend starting at 1 oz to 1 lb and adding as you see fit based on your desierd outcome.
Will this walnut shell powder work well for a scalp scrub without leaving pieces in the hair or what would you recommend?
Walnut Shell Powder would work in a scalp scrub. There is no guarantee there won't be pieces that do not rinse out. This would probably happen with any type of scalp scrub. Some common scrubs for hair scalp would be sea salt, pink Himalayan salts and even sugar.

Walnut Shell Powder (Juglans Regia Shell Powder)

Walnut Shell Powder (Juglans Regia Shell Powder) – Crafter's Choice

Juglans Regia Shell Powder is produced by crushing and grinding the outer shells of the walnut tree's nuts. The shells are cleaned, dried, and then finely milled into a granular powder — making it one of the most straightforward natural exfoliants available to formulators. No synthetic processing, no microplastics, and a sustainably sourced origin as a byproduct of the food industry.

If you're formulating scrubs, exfoliating soaps, or cleansers and need a physical exfoliant that performs consistently and tells a clean ingredient story, walnut shell powder is a practical, well-understood choice.
