Roll On Perfume (from a base) - Simple Steps for Beginners

Create a work space that is clean of filth and of a size that prevents contamination from outside sources. Select an area that is not accessible to children and pets. We recommend wearing protective clothing such as an apron, goggles, gloves and a hair net. Using a pre-made roll on perfume base designed for handmade perfume, measure 16 oz in a clean glass pyrex cup. Note: 16 oz of base will make approximately (68) 7 ml roll on bottles of perfume. Incorporating fragrance in a roll on perfume base depends on using the smaller of two important percentages:

IFRA Percentage - This is the amount of the selected fragrance oil approved for skin contact. The percentage of fragrance oil approved for skin contact is different for every fragrance because it is based on the ingredients used to make the aroma. This level is called the IFRA percentage and is application #4 on an IFRA document.

Base Percentage - This is the percentage of fragrance the roll on base will accept. Our roll on perfume base will accept 50% fragrance.

Example - To illustrate how you will apply these percentages to your formula. Lets look at using the fragrance oil Crafter's Choice Hello Sugar and our Crafter's Choice Roll On Perfume Base.

1. The IFRA percentages for this fragrance is 10.5%. Click here to view the IFRA document (look for application 4).
2. The base percentages for the roll on perfume is 50%.
3. The lesser of these two percentages is 10.3% therefore you can add up to 10.3% of this fragrance to your formula. 10.3% is the same as 1.6 oz or 49 ml per ever 16 oz of base.

Pour the scented roll on perfume into roll on bottles. If selling your product you will need to label it with the product name, your company name, contact information, ingredients, directions for use, and product weight. This product is intended to be crafted by those 15 years or older.
