Snowman Face CP Soap

Assemble the Round Silicone Column Mold making sure the sides and bottoms are tightly clamped so they do not leak. Place mold into a box, plastic container, etc. to help keep sturdy and to catch any soap leaks should they happen.

Using a polypropylene pitcher, weigh 8.36 oz. water. Weigh 3.17 oz. sodium hydroxide into a polypropylene container. Pour the lye into the water and stir until completely dissolved. Set aside in a safe area to cool.

To a stainless steel pot, weigh 7.26 oz. Coconut 76 Oil, 7.26 oz. Palm Oil, 3.52 oz. Rice Bran Oil, 3.30 oz. Olive Oil - Refined A and 0.66 oz. Castor Oil. Heat over stove top until ingredients are all liquid. Set aside to cool.

In a plastic beaker, add 1 tsp. Titanium Dioxide and blend with a small amount of oils - just enough to mix dry powder.

In another plastic beaker, mix 1.25 oz. fragrance with 0.625 oz. vanilla color stabilizer. Blend and let sit for two minutes.

To a plastic container (8 oz.), mix 1/8 tsp. Adobe Orange mica with a small amount of oils.

When lye water and oils have cooled to below 120°F, you are ready to start. Pour lye water into oils and stick blend to light trace. Add in titanium dioxide mixture and blend until color has incorporated.

Pour batter into round column mold filling to the top. To plastic container with orange color, add 2 oz. of remaining batter. Stir or stick blend to mix.

Using one or two small silicone molds, (we used the Rectangle Silicone Mold 1601). Pour the remaining uncolored batter into one cavity and the orange colored batter into another. This will be used as soap dough to make the nose and ball for the hat. Let soaps set overnight or for 24 hours.

Unmold two extra soaps and place into separate zip close bags. This will keep soap soft so it can be molded.

Unmold round soap and slice into eight 1 inch bars. Set on flat surface to be frosted.

Using a wooden skewer, draw a face on each bar. Draw a line where the hat will be. Below that, make two holes for eyes, one hole for nose and five or six holes for the mouth. This will be used as a guide when decorating and also to help the soap frosting stick to the face. Using a dull knife or soap cutter, carefully score lines on the hat to help adhere the soap once piped.

To prepare soap frosting, weigh 3.04 oz. water and 1.15 oz. sodium hydroxide in separate containers. Carefully pour the lye into the water and stir until dissolved. Set aside to cool.

In a stainless steel pot, add 2.64 oz. Coconut Oil, 2.64 oz. Palm Oil, 1.28 oz. Rice Bran, 1.20 oz. Olive Oil and 0.24 oz. Castor Oil. Heat over stovetop until completely liquid. Set aside to cool.

In three separate containers, add 1/8 tsp. of each color (black, blue mica, ultramarine blue). Mix with a small amount of oils.

Using the soap dough placed in the zip bags, shape the carrot nose from the orange soap dough. Place one end into the hole for the nose sticking it slightly upward and to the side. Add noses to all the bars.

Using the uncolored soap dough, make round balls, approximately 1/2 inch wide, for the hat. Roll these in the Iridescent Sparkle Glitter and set aside. Store extra dough in bags for a future project.

Decide on colors for snowman hat. We made some all dark blue and some with a light blue top and a dark blue edging.

When lye water and oils have cooled to under 120°F, pour lye water into oils and begin to stick blend to a light trace. Pour about 2 oz. of batter into container with black color. Depending on the color scheme chosen, either divide the remaining batter between the two blue colors or add more to whichever color will be used the most. Stick blend each color until blended starting with the light blue, dark blue, then black. Batter should be thick enough to keep its shape once piped.

Pour the black into a piping bag, cutting the tip off to make a small hole. Add the eyes and mouth to each bar, being sure to fill in the holes with the batter.

Place a small star decorating tip into a piping bag. Fill with the color that will be the edging of the hat. Cut the tip off the bag and pipe the edge along the bottom of the hat. If using only this color, continue filling in the entire hat. If not, fill another piping bag with the other blue color and pipe in the remainder of the hat, using the same size decorator tip.

When finished, place a white ball on each hat and sprinkle hat lightly with sparkle glitter.

Let soaps cure for 4-6 weeks. Package as desired.

Label product accordingly.
