Honey & Patchouli- seized immediately in CP soap

"The scent is fine. I can detect the patchouli but it's reasonably toned down, which is good since I'm not a patchouli fan. In a recipe of tallow 30%, Coconut oil 20%, lard 22%, shea butter 5%, Castor oil 5% and HiO Safflower oil 18%, it seized within 5 seconds or less of adding the Honey & Patchouli FO at 6%. This was a fragance test, so only 150g was dedicated to this FO. I was going to pour it in to a hexagon shaped single cavity beehive mold. I tried to smash it in as quickly as possible. I saw the reviews that said it seized, but had to try it for myself. Believe the reviews!! A true fail. Not a good FO for CP soap!!"

Not as good as Elements Bath & Body version

"I was hoping that when WSP bought out EBB that they would keep the Patchouli Honey fragrance (among others) because it is soooooo much nicer than Crafter's Choice version. The EBB version is even great in CP soap so that was another reason why I liked it. The CC version is just ok, more pungent that EBB."

Honey & Patchouli FO

"Smells nothing like Patchouli, but does have a sweet musk scent that I enjoy. Upon adding the FO the batter immediately seized and I had to press it into the mold. It's a very rustic looking bar of soap and I enjoy the scent but I won't be buying it again for this reason."

Immediate Seize

"The scent itself was a warm, Fall scent. ---But it immediately SEIZED after less than 5 seconds of whipping in the fragrance oil . . . and I only used 1 TB for a 1/2 gallon of batter !! Definitely would NOT buy again."

Great Product

"My Customers enjoy the scent of Patchouli that brings back memories. It works great for Hot processed soaps without changing the scents."

Sandra (5/5)

It's very nice adjunct to essential oils

"I love this creamy, honey blend. I use it with Patchouli EO for a softer scent. Lasts a long time."

do not buy for cp soap

"Just don't. Loved the scent description and got really excited to purchase and use. Out of the bottle, the scent is much muskier and smokier than expected. I was hoping for a nice green herbaceous hemp fragrance and this is NOT IT. I thought it would be better after soaping so added it to a batch (I mixed it with a little lime oil and lavender, which in the past has helped de-ccelerate my recipe, so thought it would help slow the acceleration and ricing). Brought my soap to the lightest of trace at 95 degrees F, mixed in the colorants by hand, added the fragrance at the very end stirring with a spatula. Went from smooth to horribly riced and froze in my container mid pour. Absolute worst fragrance I have ever worked with. Super disappointing-- this fragrance can only be used for non-soap purposes now."

Seized

"I love the fragrance but as others said it seized super fast and turned solid in a flash. Looks like a re-batch in my future"

Lynn (1/5)

Worst Seize Ever in CP

"I don't know how I missed all the comments about CP soap seizing with this fragrance! The entire batch became a solid bowl-shaped mass. The fragrance smells nice but just keep it out of CP Soap"

Crafters Choice Honey and Patchouli Fragrance Oil

"So sweet and rich with a hint of earthy. I loved this with the honey melt and pour soap base."

Q&A

How does one use this FO in CP soap without it seizing? Any tips?
You can try increasing the water content in your CP recipe, soaping at room temperature, or skipping the stick blender and mix by hand. All of these will help to slow down trace.
