What Does Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) Do for the Skin?

Article

What Does Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) Do for the Skin?
Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, is a powerhouse ingredient in skincare that offers multiple benefits for the skin. It helps strengthen the skin barrier, lock in moisture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Niacinamide also brightens the skin, evens out tone, and reduces hyperpigmentation. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it ideal for calming redness, irritation, and acne. With regular use, it can improve overall skin texture, leaving the complexion smooth and radiant. Niacinamide is a water-soluble form of Vitamin B3, an essential nutrient that supports healthy skin, brain function, and energy metabolism. In skincare, niacinamide is celebrated for its ability to address a wide range of skin concerns, from hydration to anti-aging. Unlike some active ingredients, it is gentle and compatible with most skin types, making it a popular choice for improving skin health and appearance. Yes, niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3. Vitamin B3 exists in two primary forms: niacin (nicotinic acid) and niacinamide. While both are forms of B3, they serve different functions. Niacinamide is specifically used in skincare due to its ability to improve skin health without causing redness or irritation, which can occur with niacin. Niacinamide has a wide range of uses in skincare: Hydration: It helps strengthen the skin barrier to retain moisture. Anti-Aging: Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Brightening: Fades dark spots and evens out skin tone. Anti-Acne: Regulates oil production and calms inflammation. Skin Texture: Improves overall smoothness and minimizes the appearance of pores. It’s a versatile ingredient suitable for most skincare routines. Niacinamide can be used both morning and night, making it a flexible addition to your routine. In the morning, it can protect your skin from environmental stressors and boost hydration under sunscreen. At night, it works to repair and renew the skin while reducing redness or irritation. Niacinamide is effective year-round and pairs well with most other skincare ingredients. To use niacinamide, apply it after cleansing and toning but before moisturizing. It’s typically found in serums or creams with concentrations ranging from 2% to 10%. Start with a lower concentration if you’re new to the ingredient to avoid irritation. Apply a few drops to your face, gently massaging it into the skin, and follow with your favorite moisturizer and sunscreen. It can also be combined with other actives like hyaluronic acid or peptides for added benefits. Niacinamide is generally well-tolerated by all skin types, but some individuals may experience mild redness, itching, or irritation, especially when first introducing it into their routine. To minimize side effects, start with a lower concentration and perform a patch test before applying it to your face. Avoid combining niacinamide with high concentrations of acidic ingredients like vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in the same routine, as this can reduce its effectiveness. With proper use, niacinamide is a safe and effective skincare ingredient.
White Chocolate and Mint Fragrance Trend

White Chocolate and Mint Fragrance Trend
We are forecasting that white chocolate based fragrances are going to become increasingly popular in Spring of 2016, especially around the Easter season. White chocolate is made from cocoa butter, sugar and milk powders so it is known for having a more subtle, creamy and soft scent than dark chocolate. We are inspired by this creamy fragrance family and we are especially excited about blending it with herbs, florals and fruit scents. This week we are focusing entirely on the concept of blending white chocolate fragrance notes with fresh mint. The sweet, creamy gourmand notes of white chocolate complement the fresh, clean, crisp notes of fresh spearmint and peppermint. The color combination of milky white and bright green are perfect for Spring and perfect for Easter product lines. Find inspiration from the products, free recipes and handmade highlights that we share throughout the week. Be sure to follow along throughout the month for more fragrance trend forecasts relating to white chocolate.
