Our Baby Buttermilk Melt and Pour Soap Base is a detergent free base that is white in color. It contains buttermilk, oatmeal, calendula extract, and real natural honey for exemplary moisturizing benefits. The 23 pound big block is ideal for larger projects, as it will make (92) 4 oz. bars of soap. Soap comes in a blue bag with twist tie and corrugate box. A single block measures 13 x 11.5 x 6 inches.

Directions:

MELT: Determine amount of melt and pour soap base needed for your project. Carefully slice soap base into small pieces and place in microwave safe container. Heat on low at 30 second intervals. Stir between intervals until liquid. Handle hot soap carefully as it may burn the skin. Soap can also be melted in a double boiler.

MOLD: Stir in cosmetic color, cosmetic scent, and skin safe additives. Pour into a Crafter's Choice mold. Spritz soap surface with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles. Allow to cool until hard.

ENJOY: Remove from mold and wrap with airtight plastic wrap. Your newly created melt and pour soap is now ready to use!

CAUTION: Melted soap is hot! For ages 15 and older.

"Very drying and damaging "

COMMENTS: This is a very harsh soap. It is great for cleaning counters and floors but I would not recommend using on the body. When oils are added, there is no lather and continues to be extremely harsh. It’s a dud.

COMMENTS: This soap is so easy to work with, and it’s not drying to the skin even before I add my extracts etc. it melts down nice and smooth, and doesn’t seem to develop a skin as fast as some others do which I really like.

"The only detergent-free soap we use!"

COMMENTS: Rich creamy lather. Smells amazing right out of the package. Great for face bars, soaps for kids, soaps for sensitive skin, etc. Low melting point makes it tricky sometimes, but once you learn to work with it, it's fine.

"Results like CP"

COMMENTS: I'm really loving being about to offer detergent free products to my customers. This base does take some getting used to, as it's still completely liquid even under 100 degrees, but the result is being able to produce bars that are being mistaken for CP soap to the point where people online don't believe it's MP!! Produces a nice soft loaf for cutting which then transforms into sweat-free harder bars as it sits a cures for a few days. I have no discoloration when using WSP fragrance oils. Holds scent, even essential oils, really well! I find it to be nice and white, but I do add titanium dioxide when I want a true white bar/swirl. One of my favorites!

"This is my favorite soap base !"

COMMENTS: Over the last couple of years I have tried most M&P soap bases sold by WSP. Baby Buttermilk is my favorite, although I haven't found any I DON'T like ! BB is very easy to work with, melts smoothly, takes color and fragrance very well, makes beautiful molded soaps. The last several orders have had random dark flecks of oatmeal in them, something that had never happened before, but I have been able to pick them out with little problem. I hope the manufacturer can fix that problem since I think the dark flecks, if not caught, would ruin the looks of a bar of soap. I ended up ordering the 24 lb chunk because the 2 lb was out of stock when I needed more. Amazingly, cutting pieces off the chunk to work with was fairly easy. The blue plastic bag it comes in, was embedded in the sides of the large chunk, but was easy to remove. I may continue to order this large size chunk !

"Detergent Free Baby Buttermilk MP Soap - 24 lb blk"

COMMENTS: What a great soap! Will order again. Customers enjoyed this one and ordered more. Has nice lather/foam/bubbles. The Shea butter has more bubbles/foam but this one has plenty - no complaints. Has a pleasant odor that is easily covered by any of our FO or EOs. Melted and poured smoothly. Was maybe a bit harder so cutting was a little slower but that makes no difference. Came out of blue packing bag smoothly - we're loving those blue bags - makes it easier to see if a bit of bag is 'stuck' in soap so it is easier to remove. This has never been an issue for us. Wonderful texture, very mild, soft, skin loving. We've tried enough WSP MP soaps now that it is becoming difficult to choose - they are all great! This one performed very well across the board w/ no problem or complaints and as mentioned above, customers have come back for more. Thanks WSP.

"Has odor"

COMMENTS: I read the reviews and saw mostly positive reviews so I thought I'd try it. But the moment I opened the plastic wrapping to expose the soap, I noticed an odor right away and after my soap was made as well. I felt like I had to add more scent just to mask the odor. So I'm not sure what people mean when they say it smells great even without adding scent or it has low odor. I usually buy the goat milk base and it hardens nicely and has no odor. I do like the way the Buttermilk soap lathers and feels on the skin though. So I'm hoping the odor will fade away and my customers won't notice it. This soap also takes a long time to harden. I really hope I didn't buy 24 lbs of soap that I won't use. My fault for buying such a big batch, but I was really hoping the reviews were right.

"Leave out the propylene glycol!"

COMMENTS: Love the soap I wish it was completely natural without the propylene glycol. It is the perfect base for all the natural ingredients I use but I do really wish you guys could eave out the propylene glycol! Is this what it stops it from sweating?

Propylene glycol is part of the manufacturing process for making MP soap. It is what allows the soap to be melted and poured. It does not affect the sweating of the soap base.

COMMENTS: This melt and pour soap smells so good right out of the box. Produces large lather, big bubbles. There is so much goodness in here, I only wish, they could leave out the propylene glycol. I am not a fan of this ingredient. It's not truly a "natural" bar of soap, but my customers don't seem to mind.

"Gentle on sensitive skin"

COMMENTS: This is the moist moisturizing and foaming of any of the bases I have worked with. It is excellent for us in the drying conditions of winter. It is also great to shave with. The soap has not sold as well as the other bases. It is a great soap but I think the name may make people not want to try it.

I see that people complain about the hardness of the block saying its difficult to cut, but you want a hard bar of soap, so a hard base is important! COMMENTS: This soap base takes both color and scent very well. It leaves your skin feeling clean, refreshed, and above all SILKY !! I use this to shampoo my hair as well...it is very gentle on my hair and my hair is always shiny...as well as never having that "dry" feel, and I never use conditioner either. COMMENTS: This is the perfect soap base for little ones and those with sensitive skin. Have used in several kids soaps and I can't keep up with the orders. It is softer so you should definitely let it sit for a few days before packaging but other than that its great. I haven't yet added any fragrance to it but am considering getting a baby powder fo which would compliment it nicely.

"Fabulous"

COMMENTS: This is a super creamy soap that lathers well and takes additives well. It is a "soft" base and I have to allow my soap to sit longer until it hardens better. If you are an impatient MP soaper I would recommend making your batches at night and unmold in the morning relieving the temptation of unmolding too soon. It's such a gentle, cleansing soap base.

"Detergent Free Buttermilk M&P is Excellent"

COMMENTS: Tried this for the first time and was pleasantly surprised with the results, considering it is the cheapest of the M&P product line. It does make a firm, dry bar comparable to CP, has a lot of lather, and leaves the skin silky smooth. I'll be using this again, along with the goats milk type also.

"Just what I need"

COMMENTS: this is a skin friendly, gentle, superior formula that produces lovely soap and has ingredients I can brag about on my labels like buttermilk, oats and honey. It's soy free, reasonably low sweat, melts well. molds up nicely. the price point is good so I can make some money too. Although I'm still making some soaps from scratch, this is an easier method. chopping it is tiring and time consuming, like all m&P.

"Great for sensitive skin"

COMMENTS: When I get customers who say they have sensitive skin or skin problems, I try to start them out with the Baby Buttermilk soap. They usually respond very well to this soap. It is a little more difficult to work with due to its content but it is well worth the effort. I always try to have this soap available. I have tried it myself and really like what it does for my skin. This is one of my standard bases that I use. Love the detergent free part.

"Detergent Free Baby Buttermilk Soap"

COMMENTS: Wow! I love this soap! I am fairly new to homemade soaps and I do the melt and pour. This soap is so easy to work with, you just cut off what you need and melt it. My customers love that it is Detergent Free and also the fact that it is buttermilk. I have no problems incorporating fragrance, color or additives for exfoliating. It releases really well from my mold too. I originally purchased the 2 pound block but I found the 24 pound block way more profitable! My soaps practically sell themselves!
